Currently the phone app shows the call history by default. Please create settings option which would allow to user to choose which mode would be shown by default i.e. numeric keypad or call history

Alternative solution to make the phone app more usable: When the app is opened and the call log is shown, show the top edge of the number pad in the bottom of the screen so you can flick it up to dial a number. Also, make the contact list a second screen to the right of the call log, so you can move between them with a pull left/right gesture (just like you now can return to the call log from the contacts list with a pull).

The best would be to make at least two screens left and right - one is the history with numbers and another is the dialer keypad and the keypad should be the default view - simply because it needs to be accessed for emergency purposes, e.g. quickly dial 112. Now it would be very difficult to achieve that in urgency.

I know this sounds un-sailfish-like, but I'd like there to be buttons/icons for number pad and contact list in the bottom below the recents list. I find it a bit awkward to use the pulley menu here, as buttons would be quicker and there would still be enough room for the recents list.
ssahla ( 2014-05-28 00:09:00 +0300 )editI love the Symbian Belle dialer: keypad in the lower half of the screen where you can either dial a number or a contact name (the list of compatible contact names appears in the upper half); at the bottom of the screen there are buttons for call log and directory. This is the fastest dialer I know about.
