[Bug] Android apps lose GPS fix when in background since 1.0.7

Since the update to 1.0.7 GPS for Android apps only works, when they are "active". As soon as you swipe from the side or lock the device, the GPS is lost. I tried rebooting and reinstalling those apps, but it did not help.

GPS is found again, when you go back to the app, but this does not help for e.g. tracking.

Seconded, very annoying bug! I'm using gps tracker as cyclometer daily. If anyone has idea how to fix this, I'd like to know.

just runned into this problem today. Dunno what android tracking apps you are using, possibly Endomondo? Theres this native tracking app MeeRun in the Warehause/openrepos, and it seems to work great, just tried it. And you can export the tracks in .gpx, and then import to endomondo service if thats what you are using

Thanks. Have been using endomondo, yes. Just now installed Meerun, will likely use that until this is fixed (or if it's better, then I'll stick with it :)

Sports Tracker (2.5.2 & 3.0.5) fails in similar fashion - tracking stops when display blanks.

As a workaround, you can run a native sailfish app using GPS in the background.

Hm, no answer from any mod, so i have to decide it on my own... to share it not too public i packed it into a protected zip archive. The password is the "sea name" of the actual Sailfish version, that caused the problem :)

Tested this and it works. Thanks you for this.

Comments from the Jolla moderators would be welcome. I agree with the former writers that this bug is just plain annoying and if it can be safely fixed by one file, it would be extremely welcome as a hotfix.

I can not unzip the file... I already tried different programs from 7ZIP via PeaZip to unzip. unzip said that my pk compat version is to old, all other complained that the password is not correct. could you upload the .so file without zipping is again please?

i packed it with 7zip, so this should work, when it says wrong password, i guess you misstyped it. maybe try copy & paste...

so, since i was really pissed by this bug and the android support update did not fix it, i decided to fix it myself :) here is how to do it:

just replace /opt/alien/system/lib/hw/gps.default.so with the file from a version < 1.0.7

i was lucky, i have a device, wich is on 1.0.5 so i just moved the file from this device to the device on 1.0.7

i'm not sure, if i'm allowed to link it here...

Can you share that file plz? Or post binary diff between 1.0.5 and 1.0.7., that certainly won't hurt anyone.

I went for a walk yesterday evening after updating to 1.0.8.19 and Sports Tracker was completely fine.
