[Bug] Phone loses mobile connection without notice [answered]

Hi all, I'd like to know if anyone else is having the same problem: Every now and then my Jolla loses it's mobile connection (meaning no received phone calls, or MitäKuuluu messages) without it giving any notice about, and it doesn't complain about it at all. The only way I notice this is if I try to send Mitäkuuluu messages it shows that they're not getting through (haven't tried calling while it's going on). It fixes itself after a boot though.

This is really irritating as it means I can't trust that people can call me when they need to, and non-surprisingly my phone is the only way to contact me when I'm on the move.

Well, I can sadly confirm that you are not the only one.

For my own inconvenience I have not been able to repeat the disapearance of the cellural network connectivity in any sane pattern: it so far seems to be completely random.

In my case neither toggling air plane mode, mobile data or 2G/3G/3G connection seem to help. After reboot everything seems to be fine again.

There is a hardware (?) problem already reported a couple of times: The SIM card looses connection to the Jolla phone. If the Jolla does re-recognize the SIM card, it asks for the SIM code – but since the March or April update only after the lock-code has been entered. (It seems, there is a minor indication for the user: If the SIM is recognized but the SIM code not yet entered, on wake up immediately the lock code enter screen appears instead of the lock screen.) – However, this type of disconnection does not require a reboot for reconnection.

Do you have the mobile connection symbol (i.e. 2G/3G/4G) when the connection has broken down, i.e. the phone does not even recognize the missing connection?

So far I've noticed zero indication that there connection is missing. It still shows the 2g/3g/4g symbol, and the mobile data symbol.

@SieniMaagi Hi, a few questions just in case: 1) What sw version do you happen to be running? 2) Can you identify any particular case when the problem happens, like low network coverage in subway on way to home before the problem or such? 3) Are you using 2G, 3G or 4G when the problems happen? 4) What Network preference are you using (Settings > System > Mobile network > Network mode)? 5) Does it help if you force 2g only from settings?

@SieniMaagi@ighea Hi, please try also if you're able to dial voice calls when the problem is happening.

If you encounter problems with 4G and receiving calls, please see: https://together.jolla.com/question/47765/4g-lte-bug-cannot-receive-call-diverted-to-voicemail/#post-id-48381

If you encounter problems regarding mobile data connection continuity and NOT about network registration, then FYI update 1.0.8 introduces improvements regarding mobile data functionality (https://together.jolla.com/question/50175/release-notes-software-version-10819-tahkalampi/). You may want to see if it is of any help.
