[bug] HERE maps data collection in the terms and conditions specify that we can turn them off
Hi!
The terms and conditions of here maps claim that the anonymous data collection can be disabled in the settings. But I can not find that so I think it is not true. This misrepresentation induced me to accept the contract which I likely would not have accepted in absence of this false statement. So please implement that or tell where this setting should be.
As I wanted to see if this setting can be found where I can enable the location determination for apps I clicked on the "button" there which has shown me a short agreement and a link. It seems that I first accidently accepted the agreement there (the text shown is that you accept it if you continue and I thought I did go back and so not accept it but that went wrong somehow). First I also did not see that you can revoke afterwards if you display it again there. Thanks to an answer here I could find that. Unfortunately I do not know if this also prevents the transmission of now propably already recorded location data, or even discards it. (At least the disabling of the apps permission worked (as far as someone can know).)
At the provided link you also can read that the collecting of positioning data and more can be disabled. As far as I have found out that is not true in the context of using your device? Which again makes a faulty contract.
Good if improvement will come with a future update (like claimed in an answer here) but doing no data collection also has to be implemented in the app else its terms and conditions will continue to be incorrect as they currently are.
In my opinion not having saved any location data on a device is something which has to work. Even more that it does not get transmitted.
Thank you for your support!
The agreement is behind a pulley menu. And yes you can disable the data collection but then you turn off gps functionality at the same time (and I agree that should be fixed)
And the data collected is the location and wifi access points for the HERE database and it is anonymous. (afaik)Similar to what Mozilla does for their location database.
