Email application adds > (greater than) when body starts with "From" [answered]

What the question says: start an email, and in the body type "From me".
The email will be sent with a body containing:
> From me

Maybe this is an unintentional quote?

This is standard behaviour in email. It is a precaution to avoid servers confusing header fields (which may start with From) and the body text.
