hello jollaists,

I have to admit, there are friends who call me nostalgic cause i refuse to update my 10.6.8 mac. but I have my reasons. I don't want to have too much cloudy bulls°°t implemented in my os and i want to have a possibility of syncing my devices locally whithout the need of any internetconnection or googleservices. sadly the only thing i can do with my jolla over bluetooth and usb is filetransfer. is there any possibility od implementing obex or anyother localsync capability?

are ther some sailors with comparable needs?

thanks in advance for your replies...

I have the same needs as you have (but fortunately also own a Linux desktop computer to sync big files with my Jolla) and it is a pity that OSX doesn't support MTP. Agree with you - version 10.6.x was the best OSX with good performance, few restrictions and no iCloud madness. Regarding Jolla phone there isn't a difference whether you use OS 10.6 or a newer one.

First (if you don't have already) leave your vote here:https://together.jolla.com/question/282/usb-file-transfer-support-for-mac-os-x. You also find several ideas/solutions there. It is also worth to keep an eye on this discussion: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92095

Unfortunately there is no simple solution at the moment (and please don't waste your time trying to find any 3rd party software on the internet - there isn't a single one that works). I use ownCloud and sync my files with "Cargo Dock" app from Jolla Store and ownCloud client on OSX.

Over local WLAN you could use file transfer with SSH using CyberDuck app on OSX and activated developer mode on Jolla phone. You need to follow those steps:

  1. Make sure your MacBook and Jolla are on same WLAN network
  2. Enable developer mode in settings, activate "Remote connection" and set a password
  3. In CyberDuck click on "Open Connection" and chose SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
  4. Server: 10.0.0.X (see WLAN IP address on your Jolla phone), port 22
  5. Username: nemo / Password: the one you set on your phone
  6. Click "Connect" and if necessary "Allow"

In case you want to save the connection, click on "Bookmark" (OSX menu bar) and add "New Bookmark".

You're welcome. I already tried to write an iSync plugin (or better modify an existing one) for Nokia N9 after an update broke iSync connection - but I had no success, nor the original developer of that plugin. Therefore I don't see how this would be even possible with Jolla... Especially because it builds up an MTP connection and OSX doesn't even "want to know" what this is. So I would forget about iSync... :-/ Yep, I miss the good, old times where you could sync everything with every phone on OSX.

In case I find a better solution, I let you know here. I'm sometimes using OSX as well and miss a possibility to easily sync stuff with my Jolla.
