Before "Reset device" is executed two confirmation steps must be passed: 1) "Clear device" and 2) "Do you really want to clear the device - Accept". If the "Device lock" is enabled then it will prompt for the lock code after the two confirmations above.

Is there a way to factory reset a jolla that :

1) is stuck on the boot logo (no reboot loop) 2) is on 1.0.0.5 (got stuck during its very first update) and therefore cannot be accessed through telnet 3) does NOT have dev tools and SSH enabled ?

I'd hate to send it back after less than 1h of use...

Did you set a lock code for the device? If so, it should be that.

Try setting one and reset with that. (the classic 12345 should be fine) If that works it might be a bug.

There is only one "security code" in Jolla phones now (SFOS 1.0.2.5 or earlier). It is the same code as set by the user in Settings > System settings > Device lock.

There is no security code by default in Jolla phone when taken out from the sales package. The code is created by the user in Device lock menu (needs to be typed two times).

As this code is the lock code and supposed to protect the data in the phone (in particular, in case of theft), it is not available anywhere. It cannot be found.

If the owner has never given the phone to anyone else and has not created the lock code himself, then there must be a software bug somewhere.
