I remember that the issue has been mentioned here on Jolla Together, but it does not seem to be a thread of its own: While being abroad, the device suddenly shuts down quite often (and reboots then automatically up to the unlock screen). It does not need to have mobile data connection enabled. Quite often it occurs briefly after starting an app (native or Android), but it can also happen when trying to answer a call or randomly "out of the blue" without any particular action (even with the screen being dark and no apps or just the Sailfish Settings app running). The device runs stable in the car: When it is connected to an in-car charger. Therefore, I expect it is related to battery power consumption -- sometimes even the charging symbol appears after shut down, although the battery may be charged to more than 90%. While roaming, I experience sudden shut-downs much more often (>10/day) than while being in the home network (where it almost disappeared with 1.0.7).

System configuration: I have observed it first with 1.0.6 (but did not relate it to roaming). Meanwhile I updated to 1.0.7.16 and 1.0.8 but downgraded to and observe the shut-downs with 1.0.7.16 again. (I do not expect that the problem has been solved with 1.0.8).

24 July 2014: Slightly edited to provide more specific information.

See here and here for related issues. Shutdowns caused by mobile radio or SIM activity have been reported several times.

In the other threads, the reboot has not been related to roaming. I did not have this problem while being located within reach of the home network. And: Actually, a (previous) SIM or mobile radio activity often is not necessary when the device shuts down: As written, mobile data is deactivated (and, not written, I do not change location and Internet connection via WiFi may be available), when the device shuts down.

Also: The shut-downs are not a reboot loop. After rebooting, the device may stay idle for some time -- before rebooting.

Shutdowns when transferring lots of data via the mobile data connection, when activating the SIM card, when roaming are all very likely symptoms of the same problem, as the mobile radio seems to draw quite some current. However, I agree that also other supply peaks caused by using several apps plus wifi leads to sudden shutdowns, but that's been said a number of times as well. There's not really an easy solution to this power supply problem, in fact it will likely get much worse for many users as the battery deteriorates over time.
