Show non-primary alphabet letters in People too (or some other solution non-primary alphabet contacts) [duplicate]

Don't know how to fix it, but I can confirm that there are some problems with latin characters only set-ups as well.

For example, finnish has letters Ä, Ö and Å. If I do People search starting with 'A', for some reason it also searches names that start with 'Ä' as well. Same problem with O/Ö pair.

I personally think we should add any letter that is not part of the locale alphabet, that is needed to group a contact, to the end of the alphabet list. This would replace the catch-all '#' group (although, that might still be needed to store a contact containing only a number).

@Rauha: if a search term includes letters with diacritics, then matches will be found with matching diacritics. If the search term does not include diacritics, then diacritics are ignored in searching.

It has to work this way, because diacritics have different meanings in different circumstances. In some cases they indicate different letters entirely, in others they indicate different pronunciations, or just different placings of emphasis.

No. Thats not how it works in finnish and swedish at least. Ä, Ö and Å are totally independent letters, not like german umlauts or marks for emphasis. Totally independent letters.

There's absolutely no situation where I would be looking for something starting with 'Ä', when I search something starting 'A'. The letters are so removed on the keyboard that it cant really even happen by accident.

(re Chinese names) I have a Facebook acquaintance with a Chinese name, who ends up under #.

(re ÅÄÖ) If I choose Swedish (my native language) as Language, I get ÅÄÖ correctly displayed as their own separate letters, but if I choose English as Language (e.g. to be able to correctly describe how-to's here or at similar places), ÅÄÖ are sorted under AAO respectively.

On the N9, I could choose Language as "English (United Kingdom)", but Regional format as "Sweden", which resulted in both correctly sorted Contacts (at least for Swedish - don't know about the Chinese one, as I've got the "Only friends in Contacts" sync setting for Facebook in my N9 ;-) {Ok, I added two Chinese names, and one Russian (Бори́с Е́льцин ;-) ) - they're sorted after A-Ö, but before numbers & symbols; the Russian one is sorted above the Chinese ones.}), metres/kilometres in the Maps app, and time on the standby-screen with preceding-zero-if-needed.
(The N9's Regional format sets the Date format, the Time format, the Number format, and the Currency format, and (apparently, as in the metres case) more. :-) )

My personal wish is for things to appear similar to as they appeared in the N9, but with SailfishOS (i.e. further developed than MeeGo Harmattan ever got a chance to be), as I was very pleased with just about everything, but that "minor" part that it was no longer supported.
