[Request] Port SailfishOS to Fairphone [answered]
Starting from the discussion about an "ethical phone" hardware (see https://together.jolla.com/question/67434/question-does-jolla-have-a-conflict-minerals-policy/), I want to urge Jolla and its fabulous sailor team to prioritize the porting of SailfishOS to Fairphone (see http://www.fairphone.com/).
Yes, I know it hast been suggested already in the above question, as well as in the large question https://together.jolla.com/question/4851/what-hardwaredevices-would-you-like-to-see-sailfishos-on/, but I really want to emphasize this point: you don't need to develop a new hardware, but, instead of porting SailfishOS to existing devices which run anyway on unfair hardware and an unfair OS, please support the Fairphone project. I'm sure it would become a huge success with a fair hardware and a (mostly) open OS like Jollas Sailfish.
I think this would send a positive message and it might be something the community could do with some assistance from Jolla.

There is no information about MediaTek chipset, batteries etc. origin. Also, there is still not much information about assembly factory. Check their break-down and insight.
dez ( 2014-12-01 12:36:26 +0200 )edit@dez: sure, I'm no utopist, but fairphone is to this point and afaik the only one to try to care for a better manufacturing than apple & co do. Maybe just a positive message, as @shfit said, but nevertheless an important step.
