When a user opens an app from within another app the new app shoud run in background if the user interacts with the original app before the new one gets started.

E.g. tap on url in Tweetian opens the page in the browser. If I swipe back from the tweet to the Twitter feed before the browser window appears, the browser should stay in the background.

I like your idea but there probably would need to be some kind of indication that url has actually been opened in the background. Otherwise one might wonder " why didn't the url open" and tap the link couple of more times. Eventually browser would have same url open in multiple tabs.

Seeing is believing,

This reminds me of Internet Explorer opening new windows with advertisements hidden in background. You close current window (or Alt-Tab) and bang - you're presented with Enlarge your penis (how did they know??!) ad.

@Jolla095 Yes, some kind of notification should be in place, but that is more a task for the app developer. Tweetian for example shows a notification banner, that it is opening an external browser and gives a haptic feedback for the url tap.

@smoku The difference is that here the background start applies only to an url opened by user's intention.

Maybe a remorse timer could be used as an indicator for background activity. Like when you download a file with Jolla browser, once download is finished remorse timer pop up appears in the display and you can then open the downloaded file with a touch of remorse timer.
