How can I lower the volume of the alarm independent from the ring volume for incoming calls?

Navigate to Gallery > Ambience > Your current ambience to find the settings for sounds. There's no separate volume slider for other parts than the ring tone, but you can select a more quiet alarm tone there.
Thanks for this workaround. Upvoting is nice but I needed a solution RIGHT NOW.
I will have to manually edit the audio file to be more silent and then use that with an ambience that I manually activate at night. I hate having to do hacks like this but at least the night ambient gives a nice look.

This is finally possible by the work of slava, who coded Clock Settings.
Yes, that works great (for me). However, you can only set a maximum of 100%. So for those of you, who want to make the alarm louder than the default setting, this does not help. But you can use "pactl set-sink-volume 1 120%" for that. Makes the output of the speakers generally louder, so also affects ringtones, mp3 player and so on.
