Same problem here. Bought new phone yesterday and immediately updated to 1.1.1.27 without installing maps. Now maps app can't be installed from store.

In terminal pkcon search can't find sailfish-maps package.

XD i guess this is not the best moment for this bug ;)because christmas a lot of new jolla will be updated and nearly everyone will try to install maps ;)

I also have a brand new Jolla phone, installing Maps did not work with whatever version it came with. Then I did an update to the latest version, tried to reinstall Maps for Jolla Store."Waiting" for a long time, then message "Problem with Store Could not install Maps".

You should now be able to install Maps on all released versions of SailfishOS on your Jolla again. There was a server side issue, which now has been worked around for Maps.

Please let us know if you still can't install it.

Yes works for me too. Many thanks!

Works flawless now! Only turn-by-turn navigation should be added in the next update.

We had the same problem with my wife's brand new Jolla. Maps didn't install on out-of-box device nor after OS update despite several attempts.

Trying to install Maps via pkcon from command line as @Markkyboy suggested, returned the same error @Vlad got.

The problem seems to be related to Jolla account somehow, as it was possible to install Maps after I logged in with my Jolla account.

So using an old Jolla account (presumably one that has previously been used to install Maps) seems to be a workaround until Sailors fix this. Unfortunately this isn't an option for someone who has just bought a Jolla and doesn't know other Jolla users who could help.

I wonder if this has something to do with the change of Maps EULA...

thx for this tip maybe it helps some of the people out there, in the store comments some people say it works only with simcard. for me it doesn't work

Vlad ( 2014-12-29 14:12:21 +0300 )edit

I have a sim card in my phone but the installation of the maps doesn't work

Having a sim card in or not doesn't seem to make a difference.

Just tested this with my own phone:

  • Uninstalled Maps
  • created a new account at account.jolla.com
  • updated my account credentials on phone (new account)
  • installing maps fails "Problem with Store, Could not install Maps"

  • updated my account credentials back my original account

  • Maps installs

So this definitely is a Jolla account related bug and nothing to do with sim card.

I can confirm that I couldn't install maps on a new phone running 1.1.1.27 and set up with a new Jolla account. When I changed the Jolla Account to my old account established a year ago I had no problems downloading and installing Maps. I could then switch back to the new account and run Maps without problem. The work around from @Valker definitely worked for me therefore for which many thanks. This does need a proper fix from Jolla though as soon as they're back from their break!

The Maps application has now also disappeared from My Apps list in the Store. I have had it installed for months but now after 1.1.1.27 SailfishOS update the reports that tell us that new Maps insrallations fail (at least with new Jolla accs) it also seems to not show as an installed app in Store (even if the app is actually in my phone currently, and working correctly).

Just wanted to report this here cause this seems to be directly related to Maps new installation problems and hinting to some issues with Store updates and Jolla accounts. Check also this bug report: https://together.jolla.com/question/73068/bug-maps-application-not-updated-automatically-by-jolla-app-store/

I'm not saying it's not related but it may also be a separate issue. Have you tried to rebuild the app registry? If you have Sailfish Utilities installed, it's under Settings → System → Utilities. It worked for me when My Apps list got messed-up and prevented me from receiving app updates.

Valker ( 2014-12-30 13:24:36 +0300 )edit

Rebuilding app registry did not work for me.

lfc4 ( 2014-12-30 17:49:18 +0300 )edit

Thanks for the tip, gotta try that, and some have been able to make it appear on My Apps by manually updating the app by going directly to it's Store page (or conpletely re-installing it) as per this bug report: https://together.jolla.com/question/72613/bug-maps-dissapeared-from-my-apps-in-store-after-update-10/

foss4ever ( 2014-12-31 01:36:29 +0300 )edit

Seems that the issue of existing Maps app not showing in My Apps list in Jolla Store can be fixed by going to app page directly and updating from there to 1.0.25.1 after which the Maps app reappears in My Apps list.

foss4ever ( 2015-01-01 04:12:25 +0300 )edit

I just checked the My Apps list on my phone and Maps was missing (despite the fact it's installed and working). Rebuilding the app registry had no effect. This may indeed be related to new users problems installing Maps as it is also missing from My Apps list of my wifes phone, that didn't have Maps installed before OS update.

This isn't an answer but a rant. I don't feel quite comfortable doing this, but I'm just too frustrated on Jolla's failure on an extremely important moment.

How is it possible that you didn't test that your devices still work with a fresh Jolla account after updates? Christmas is definitely the most important season for any mobile manufacturer and you didn't check that everything is running smoothly then people get their brand new phones!

Like it or not, Maps is a key app for many users and it's totally unacceptable that it is still impossible to install it from the Jolla store (unless you previously had it installed). And what is even worse, you have failed on communications – once again. There are a huge number of comments on Store with no answer from Jolla.

New user, who are affected by this bug, don't necessary find together.jolla.com or any other place to seek support. And if they do, it doesn't really matter, because this question have received zero attention by Jolla Sailors. And you should already know about it; at least I got your standard non-answer on Twitter. So you are "looking in to it", but that's a small consolation when no-one knows if and when the bug may get fixed. Should people just keep trying to install Maps and hope that some day things will be all ok, would it be better to put the phone back into the box and try again next Christmas, or should they just they just learn to live without mobile maps?

I totally understand that Jolla is a small company and your are understaffed during major holiday season, but you just can't let new users down. Especially on a moment like this. It will hurt your reputation so bad.

Even if you don't know what is going on and can't fix it right a way, you must communicate! People may or may not understand your situation but if you just ignore the new Jolla phone owners, you will loose those customers and they for sure won't recommend Jolla to anybody. So, please tell us what is the situation of this issue and post some sort of statement to Jolla Store comments also.

I'm sorry to agree to this "rant". We all have understandings, but the communication so far looks for me like you either haven't noticed that problem yet, or only the cleaning lady takes care of Jolla while all the staff is on holidays. It is quite frustrating for new users (including me). I hope that you can understand our frustration and the fix is only a matter of 1-2 days.

Thank you very much and a good 2015!

I had the same problem! ... with my device of 01/2014 ... not new! ... and my maps app works (again) ... :)

If you can try please ... delete the Jolla-Store-Account in your device and restart ... configure a new Jolla-Store-Account = and now?

Been there... Doesn't work.

flammenbringer ( 2015-01-03 21:41:22 +0300 )edit

If you can try please ... backup your data + reset (work setting) the Jolla device + configure WLAN and a new store account in device + FW update (not about the mobile network! to high cost?) + Maps = and now? ....and this is correct? -->

in a browser, log in on https://account.jolla.com click on your username to open the upper-right menu select "Oauth2 applications"

remove the application/name that is in the list

on the Jolla, open settings navigate to accounts open the Jolla acount

from the pull-down menu, select "Update sign-in credentials" and walk through the steps

try to install Maps again

JoUser ( 2015-01-03 21:54:34 +0300 )edit

this doesn't work I test it before but thx for your tip i walk through all the steps in the given order, i do in before in an other order but the result stays the same

Vlad ( 2015-01-04 14:24:32 +0300 )edit

@Vlad If you can try please, from Jolla Store: "Halftrail" or/and from "1MobileMarket"-Store: "MAPS.ME" or another?

JoUser ( 2015-01-04 18:03:13 +0300 )edit

other mapsapps works ;) as valker said it looks like an EULA problem...
