I am not able to download the ambience from white other half and poppy red half, it gives me a warning "Jolla store problem, this other half already in use". I think it is because my Jolla is bought from 2nd hand, that user already downloaded by using his own Jolla account, if I used mine Jolla account, I am unable to download again.

So the conclusion is 1 other half only for 1st owner to download??

I am suffering exactly same problem that just reveals itself when I unmasked tohd.service after Naamankajärvi -update. It seems that there are no method on Jolla store to reclaim toh for the new user which is at least missing feature if not a bug.

Same here. Any information if this can/will be solved?

I would be inclined to contact the previous owner and ask them for the account details, sign in, then change the details to your own (email, password, username) and try again - I'm not saying this will work, but the fact is, you're trying to access services that were created for someone else and seeing as they sold you the phone, in my mind there is a certain obligation to help out! Even if the previous owner changes his current password on the Jolla account to something like 'Banana123' so he/she has no need to disclose their favourite/one off password, then the new user can change all details in the account to suit. Being told by Jolla to go and buy a new OH makes no sense whatsoever, other than from a profit point of view! Just a thought that may or may not be viable, gotta be worth a try and if it doesn't work, then Jolla really need to be made properly aware of this!

It should be allowed to sell 2nd hand TOHs, it it's "personal", then it's mine, and if I decide to sell it, it should be allowed! shouldn't be a problem to add a way for previous user to remove their attachment to the TOH in question..

We have now changed the restriction of having individual TOHs tied to specific user accounts. You will still need a Jolla account to access the ambiences from store; however now you can take a TOH that someone has previously used / registered to another account, snap it on your Jolla, and be able to download the ambience associated with the TOH to your Jolla device. In other words, "The Other Half"s are now shareable/swappable!

This applies to existing TOHs you already have, or new TOHs available from http://shop.jolla.com/eu_en/cat-the-other-half.html/ i.e. "Snow White", "The First One", "Keira Black", "Aloe" and "Poppy Red".

This could be put as separate changeable option in own Jolla account settings when logging through Jolla website to own Jolla account. Ability to "unlock the selected TOH(s) from "account specified lock" and therefore allow installation of TOH on other account if the phone and TOH(s) provided with phone are sold forward to new owner.

Otherwise if previous owner forgets to unlock the TOH(s) before selling the phone forward, one could for example email Jolla to release the "TOH account lock".

Hi, I'm not giving up on this. Contacted Jolla Care again. This time they seem to be more helpful than last time. See yourself below:

Hi,

We would need you to provide us with the ID of your TOH in order to get it working. Here are the instructions for how to get the TOH ID:

  • open the phone application
  • choose 'Enter phone number' from the pulley menu
  • type *#*#310#*#*
  • an application called the CSD tool will appear
  • tap the 'single test'
  • scroll down until you can see the text NFC and tap on that
  • Write down the 14 digit code that you can see below the 'NFC tag' text
  • send this 14 digit code to us by replying to this message

Sincerely, Jolla Customer Care

[UPDATE 11.03.2014]:

Mailed Jolla Care my NFC ID. They untied my TOH from the previous Owners Account. I'll try if this solved the issue for me.

Hi,

we have now released the White Other Half, so oyu should now be able to register it to your own Jolla-account and use it.

Sail on!

Sincerely, Jolla Customer Care

@chemist sorry I didn't know that.

@Matthias Glad you made it. Good to know also that care response times improved a lot.

The code above is wrong, probably messed up by formatting rules. The correct code is star-hash-star-hash-310-hash-star-hash-star.

Fun utility, BTW!

Here's the answer I received from Jolla Care ... Can't be the solution, can it???!!!

The Other Half is personal. Once attached to your Jolla, it is tied to your Jolla account. This means that the exclusive ambience, that your The Other Half is packed with, will only be available to you and won’t be accessible if The Other Half is connected to a Jolla configured with a different Jolla account.

We would recommend that you purchase a new Other Half in the Jolla webshop. http://shop.jolla.com/cat-the-other-half.html

We apologize for the inconvenience!

It doesn't really make sense for the "Snow White" TOH, being the "default" TOH included with every Jolla (and, as far as I know, no option to not have it), but it does make sense with all the others ...

... and what if a company began using TOH's as entrance cards? - You'd probably want them to be personal.

The clue is in the answer - 'tied to the jolla account' - So, ask the previous owner of the account, for the details, sign in, change the details to your own!, surely this has to work? (What if the original owner has to change his email address?, does the OH stop working because of this too?), hmmmmmm, food for thought and a shoddy answer from Jolla in my mind, spend more money indeed! :(

So, at least when my jPhone breaks, this means I will still have all my stuff including TOH ambiances etc on the new phone, because it is tied to my account. So far so good. I'd still love to be able to sell/gift an TOH to someone else. Since it is a piece of hardware, why not just have it tied to the Jolla account of the phone, TOH was last attached to?

With the recent Update to 1.0.4.20 you don't need to use the CSD Tool anymore to figure out your TOHs NFC ID. The TOH's NFC ID is displayed in the Product information screen. Just provide Jolla Care with this ID and I'll hope they'll help you, as they did for me.

I have a similar problem. I had purchased a 2nd hand Jolla and I have both the Snow White and First One OHs. But as they have been assigned to the previous owner they are rendered useless and mar the overall Jolla experience in my opinion. But I would think that Jolla can verify from the serial number of each Jolla device and the Jolla account of the user. If there is a way that Jolla can contact the initial owner and verify if they had sold their device so they can delete any residue data on the OH and make it available for the more discerning customers and true fans of their work which they had started with MeeGo.

if you ask me, the ambiance of the snow white and TOH are both very ugly and useless for me. They should let us assign our own ambiances to the different covers! Which would be also an easy solution for you.

You have to find the rpm with the ambiance and install it manually. It is posted in a thread on the maemo forum (which I'm not sure I'm allowed to link, so you'll have to look for it yourself).

It's a very hackish way to solve the problem, but when the phone refuses to cooperate you can always "persuade" it to do so ;)

think it should be possible for the seller to release her/his account and by doing this making it possible for the buyer to install thoh
