This is a very annoying bug for me, so I've been trying to figure out what's going on. I've found a way to make the ticking sound stop!
First; I'm using a reasonably cheap no-brand one-button in-ear earphone bought at Clas Ohlson, a hardware store in Oslo.
To avoid the ticking sound, follow these instructions.
- Unplug the earphone
- On the earphone, press and hold the button on the headphone, and while you hold it....
- Plug in the earphone
- Start some music or other audio app on the Jolla phone
- Let it play at least 5 seconds
- Release the button on the headphone
This workaround will last until you unplug the earphone or restart/reboot the phone. It also works if you switch steps 3 and 4.
You should now be able to hear the expected audio without the ticking sound. Yay! \o/
The fact that this works, suggests to me that there's something odd going on within the headphone detection code (I guess that would reside somewhere in an audio kernel module)...
Duplicate, see: https://together.jolla.com/question/9266/there-is-a-ticking-sound-when-headphone-is-connected-to-jollas-jack/ and https://together.jolla.com/question/12545/clicking-sound-with-headphones/

aloof ( 2014-01-09 16:44:06 +0200 )editDon't agree to be duplicate. This one reports ticking sound to occur during playback where in other case playback is totally fine without any problems, but the ticking sound appears on no playback. Other is probably about standard of Jack this maybe related to problems related too impedance?

naytsyrhc ( 2014-01-09 17:36:11 +0200 )editI tested the headphones from an iPhone (orignal headphones that are boxed) and those have no ticking sound and work perfectly fine (microphone too).
