Dear Jolla users/supporters/fans, since we are still expecting new phone to appear, I think it is time to indicate to Jolla what we really expect from a Jolla 2 Smartphone, now, in Spring 2015. The poll will contain just a hardware wish list. Software, as you know, can be changed on the fly and for it we have releases. Hardware is a monolith piece of equipment and all ideas should be consolidated on one place. This is the reason I am making this poll now.

Each possible, important, major entry, will be a separate answer. It will contain general description of the feature and we vote on it. If you want to further specify it - extend it, explain why it is important to have (or not) please create a comment under the question. The comment can be voted on too.

Please check the existing features (answers) before creating a new one, to concentrate the poll and make it useful and relevant. Please also do not put negative votes - instead create another entry (answer) with the technology you want. Keep comments outside of answers, in Comments only.

duplicate as basically every tjc entry is a poll already https://together.jolla.com/question/19564/jolla-2nd-device-hw-suggestions/

Chemist, this is NOT a duplicate. It is a better, properly structured poll, such did not exist so far. The one you are referring to is messy and disorganised, outdated.

Jose, please remove your comment, it spams the poll. Most of the points you raise are included in the poll. Feel free to add some, if not there. But such big opinions are not useful to the poll, as they make it unreadable.

@Atanas I second @chemist, yet I like your approach. Perhaps this thread has a good reason to co-exist.

Very good quality loud speaker.

To win marketshare jolla need to have something special. To my mind the easiest way is to provide thebest loudspeaker on the market.

This is definitely my biggest hardware related problem with the first Jolla. You need to be in a completely silent environment to hear a video clip or song.

An Alliance with aiaiai can be an alternative

We have a dual-speakers vote option. Consider putting this as a comment under it, meldolion.

SailorofBerlin , this is USB related. We have USB OTG option, would be better if you move this as a comment under it. I am not a mod and can't do it. We need to keep this small.

Sad fact - The Intel x3-c3440 SoC does not support usb3.

I would love a notification led, maybe with a set of different colors for different services / events (email, task, messenger et cetera).

Multiple LEDs?

vattuvarg ( 2015-04-05 13:39:17 +0200 )edit

@vattuvarg: My last android device, a Huawei Y300, has got a single notication led which can blink in different colors. You can choose in your android submenu which app / notification uses which color. In my opinion it is a great feature to set up your notifications the way it suits your needs.

SailorofBerlin ( 2015-04-06 17:23:16 +0200 )edit

With AMOLED no need of LED - you get notification on the screen. See N9 pictures, it is really good.

Atanas ( 2015-04-06 21:06:00 +0200 )edit

A combination of notification LED and AMOLED display would be nice.

Hi, thanks for the input, but your bulk idea makes it hard to vote on. Some of the things you put are already in the poll - GPS, USB OTG, RAM, xenon flash, etc.

Please edit your entry and leave just one item in every answer. Thus people vote separately. And we keep the poll consistent.

Headphone jack on the bottom of the device

Comments

This would break TOH compatibility.

vattuvarg ( 2015-04-05 13:09:31 +0200 )edit

It would be really nice, but breaking TOH is much worse than having jack on the top. Unless there is some workaround.

There is already a battery answer in the list.... I would remove that part to see how large the request for DAB really is.

mikelima ( 2015-04-06 13:29:55 +0200 )edit

I removed the battery req, as it is a duplicate:

  • true long batterie life (real 1 week/8h working days , 1 month standby with WiFi/4G connected, Quick charging
