Whenever I plug in a charger the Jolla always turn itself on. When I turn it off it turns itself on again. It doesn't seem to be possible to charge the phone without having it switched on.

Feature, not a bug. Power management is running while charging the phone, and the phone turns on just enough to start that service.

Do you know a mobile phone who doesn't turn itself on to charge? Even dumbphones do (they will possibly show nothing on the screen except the battery charging symbol, but they must be switched on to show it).
