[confirmed] Nokia going to produce/licence mobiles again next year [not relevant]
update: Oh yes they will - give licence
tldr; Oh no they're not.
OP: I read in german IT news from heise/ct (famous german IT magazine) that there is a rumor of Nokia going to produce again mobiles. Partially as desingers with licences but maybe also under the Nokia brand itsself. Nokia back to mobile business (in german, sorry)
Questions are for me now:
Will Jolla somehow interact with Nokia? Maybe HW designed by Nokia, usually Nokias had always a good HW reputation - together with Sailfish..why not (not telling that the Jolla Phone is bad, but maybe higher Volumes could be achieved??)
Will this affect Jolla in another way? Steal potential customers? There was no detail about the future system used, just a reference to the N1 Tablet which will be for sure outdated already.
I'm torn between liking and mistrusting that situation since I don't want that Jolla suffers from a Nokia-Phoenix.
Wouldn't it be a dream if Nokia uses Sailfish for the new phones? What do you think?

Main News:
"Nokia plane, die Smartphones lediglich zu designen und den Markennamen Nokia als Lizenz anzubieten, erklärte Rajeev Suri. Partner, die später ein Nokia-Smartphone herstellen, werden noch gesucht."
Rajeev Suri said: Nokia plans to design the devices and to offer the brand-name for a licence. Partners who are going to produce the Nokia-Smartphones are still searched.
Found an english article from Tomi Ahonen: http://communities-dominate.blogs.com/brands/2015/06/now-official-nokia-will-return-as-brand-to-smartphones-from-2016-says-ceo.html
Here's the officiall press release from NOKIA: http://company.nokia.com/en/news/press-releases/2016/05/18/nokia-signs-strategic-brand-and-intellectual-property-licensing-agreement-enabling-hmd-global-to-create-new-generation-of-nokia-branded-mobile-phones-and-tablets
Not happening, sorry.
juiceme ( 2015-04-20 22:24:57 +0200 )editWell I don't wanna tell that Jolla is in desperate need of this partnership but I think it could be a good push in visibility. Most casual users have barely heard of Jolla. Of course this is only possible to happen if the ex-Nokia employees who are now in Jolla are not (still) with bad fellings towards Nokia.
PatsJolla ( 2015-04-20 22:30:16 +0200 )editNokia has no mobile design capacity left, none for HW nil for SW.
It was all sold out to MS and what was not has been dissolved and dismantled. There is no infrastructure to do implement anything like that any longer.
You might as well ask any random international company not currently making mobiles to start manufacturing them... first you need to build design capacity, then manufacturing capacity... etc...
It would take years and huge pile of money... not worth it... no business there...
juiceme ( 2015-04-20 22:50:33 +0200 )editUNLESS! They buy a small company which has been taking care of design, distribution chain, hw / sw manufactoring in mobile sector...but this of course is just a speculation..

They did release the N1 tablet, so it's not like they have no design capacity left at all... I know they didn't make it the way they used to make phones, but I don't see why they couldn't release (Android?) phones in the same manner. Maybe they won't, but they could.
