GUIDELINES
There's been discussion about askbot not showing vote/view count, but only the vote count. With an active platform like TJC, this causes several important questions to drop quickly under a pile of later questions. This is a wiki post, listing older questions which have somewhat high votes/view rate, important questions waiting for an acceptable answer, but not gathering new views any more because they are "under the pile".
To add a link into this post, please follow these guidelines:
- Select only one question of your own, important to you, having somewhat high votes /view rate (calculated)
- Please edit your question directly above as a link. Do not post it as an answer/comment
- Do not add a question which already has an accepted answer or which is closed
- Make sure your selected question can be answered with an answer you could later accept
- Do not add too new questions which are still gathering views. Those are still visible enough without this wiki
- After the answer is accepted (hopefully by you), please return here and change/remove your link. Let's keep this up to date to benefit us all
This wiki post is posted in a purpose to add visibility to some older, essential questions which have been attracting to voters, but are "dropped" under a pile of later questions, not gathering much more viewcounts / votes without this kind of promoting. Using this wiki, it's possible to gain some visibility for your most important questions and maybe get them answered. This is just one idea how we can get some more questions answered, and that way the whole portal cleaner. Please follow the quidelines above strictly. This wiki post is not looking for answers to itself, but only into your most important questions.
-1 from someone, may I ask for a reason? Just a bad idea to list older questions? Any better ideas to get them answered?
simo ( 2015-04-26 15:57:03 +0200 )edit+1, I like the general Idea very much. Only i would not exclude posts with few views and giving the title a "view count" context! To achive the goal "This wiki post is not looking for answers to itself, but only into your most important questions." it is not wise to exclude questions with few views. The rule "only one item per user" already is a good limitation to striktly list questions most important to a single user and keep the list short and relevant. That questions have slided below "the pile" can have multiple reasons like posting it during low activity period (holidays/night) or simply missing a "snappy" title, which results in low viewcount. My added question has very few views, but is bugging me seven days a week...
mosen ( 2015-04-27 11:54:01 +0200 )edit@mosen Thanks, the idea is to include especially the posts with less views. The title, hopefully clearly enough, is "vote per view". For example, question with 20 votes but only 100 views can be seen as very popular, as every 5th viewer has given an upvote). A question with 20 votes and 1000 views is ten times less important. Instead of updating the questions to lift them up back to the front page, it's better to promote these important ones for example this way.
