This post is a wiki. Anyone with karma >75 is welcome to improve it.
I thought a Thread about Whatsup vs. Mitakuuluu would be useful, so one can decide which ohne to use for native WhatsApp feeling.
This is a wiki Thread - so feel free to edit.
Maybe we could list the differences and advantages of every App.
Here's the TMO thread for WhatsUp: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=94689
And here for Mitakuuluu: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=95508
- Open-source: Mitakuuluu yes ; WhatsUp no
- Encryption support: Mitakuuluu yes ; WhatsUp no
- Media/Pictures: Mitakuuluu no ; WhatsUp yes
- Per contact toggle of message read status: Mitakuuluu ? ; WhatsUp yes
- Calls: Mitakuuluu ??? ; WhatsUp No
Why do you always write "WhatsUp"? It is WhatsApp or should it be a choke?

shfit ( 2015-06-12 23:23:09 +0200 )editWhatsUp is not on the Warehouse: I think they both need some improvements. Something great about Mitakuuluu is that you don't need to register your phone again, you can load either WhatsUp and WhatsApp registration data.
Maybe it will be a good idea to split Media/Pictures is send and receive, both can receive but only WhatsUp can send.
I don't think calls are supported on Mitakuuluu.
For me the major downsise is the audio messages, they don't work properly in any of them (sometimes it works, othertimes it doesn't).
SKyd3R ( 2015-06-13 16:20:36 +0200 )editIs Whatsup open source? All I have found up to now is shady Dropbox file links for downloading the installation package. I realize it is a preliminary version, but that is surely not a good sign.
