While i don't have the software installed from various videos i've seen (ie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=13&v=He2T4j_uv2Q and mwc2015) there seems to be a slight large delay from the time you complete the second tap to when the screen wakes. To me it seems like its much bigger than the one in SFOS 1.x

Is this just because the software isn't ready yet or a new "feature"?

Update: While it became faster it's still not there. The fade in animation subtracts from the whole experience instead of enhancing it. My suggestion is to remove it all together. Second tap > immediately to the Lock Screen.

that's keen, logging bugs on not-yet-released software and hardware

It seems to be a long fade-out/in animation. I hope this will be improved - while it certainly looks nice, it's not handy and I think it could start to annoy users very fast. Optionally there could be an option to turn off such fade-in/out animations.

The delay is quite noticeable but it seems like it's only the animation that's slow, it looks good but when you're used to no animation it can be frustrating. Hopefully the animation speed will be increased.

Yea I think the animation speed should be tinkered with. The fade in takes way too long and I find myself waiting for the device to actually fade-in the lock screen so I can look at the time and interact with the device.

It is nearly twice the time. This is annoying! (1.1.9.28)

Sailfish OS 2.0 is not yet released. If you follow Jolla's blogs lately, you can read that it is currently being tested by dozens of people (mostly people of this community). Those people probably report bugs and have a lot of feedback to Jolla about exactly these kind of things.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about this at all. By the time 2.0 becomes official, I expect all these things to be ironed out.

Well, now that 1.1.9.28 is released, I can only confirm that unlocking/waking up screen is noticalbe slow compared to previous versions.

Well my finger is usually swiping twice on it so that kind of resembles ironing? :P Unlocking should be one of those things you do casually and automatically in a blink to get on with your actual intended task, it's not really the time for sitting through splash screen entertainment... The unlock gesture should be available when visible stuff begins happening on the screen, not at some later time. (looks like the end of the arrows-in part of the animation is that moment right now? it's a bit hard to tell)

Still too slow in 2.0.0.11 :(

Stephan ( 2015-11-04 10:45:40 +0300 )edit

Can't compare so I could be doing something differently, but it does seem to respond better/earlier in 2.0.0.10 than before so no double swiping for me at least :)

I did upvote the question, but do realise that you can actually move from lock screen to unlock screen before the lcok screen has entirely appeared. You can start to swipe as soon as the screen begins to light up. If you're a little bit too soon however, nothing happens. Try it...

Yes, you don't have to wait. But what if you only want to check the time without unlocking the phone....?

I really disliked it as well, but after installing Patch: Disable wake up lockscreen animation by equeim, I am okay with the new lock-screen. It feels a lot faster.

Here you are Jolla dev team, yet another option to include in a (hidden, as to not to confuse Android users) pro configuration menu next to full swipe action configuration, cover action options, favorite application menu behavior, pulley menu options and behavior etc...

There is an unofficial workaround available using mcetool: https://together.jolla.com/question/140493/speed-up-unlock-animation/?answer=141094#post-id-141094

While i appreciate hacks like that its not a solution. Stuff like that should be available even to your mom who will not activate dev mode ssh and all that.

ApB ( 2016-09-08 12:00:04 +0300 )edit

A workaround is per definitionem not a solution. Being unofficial is even less. And my mom would never visit this website for sure. :)

lakutalo ( 2016-09-08 12:04:40 +0300 )edit

Unfortunately although the workaround does disable the animation, it makes you wait anyway before it lets you swipe to tghe homescreen, so it doesn't solve anything.

nthn ( 2016-09-08 12:10:28 +0300 )edit

To improve and connect information here I have just asked an expert. From this valuable comment by @spiiroin (thx again!) there is generally little to be done to improve the delay.

The thing is though that if you double click the power button the wake-up is much faster (without the lock).

So do this: Double tap the screen.

Click the power button once. > You get the same wakeup time as the double tap

Double click the power button > The screen wake up fast.
