Hi everyone,

I've been quite and patient for a long time but enough is enough.

What on earth is happening with the Calendar app?

This is a critical application, especially for business matters, but is doesn't work at all, worth, is was better at the beginning of the story: Syncs are gone, events are not displayed properly, hours are shifted, just to name a few.

This is 10times more important then reducing the brightness of the phone on the event view or the animation of an icon or the tablet.

Please make a simple OS that works rather than a huge things halfway ready, can't you get help from the community?

"can't you get help from the community" - The calendar application is closed source, so community can't help improving it.

Well, at least not in a way that would improve it for all Sailfish OS users, not just people using PatchManager. Not to mention all the parts that can't be easily patched.

We discussed that in the Munich SUG group as I was a bit baffled as well that there is not replacement calendar app. I know the original one is closed, but a simple calendar should be possible as a third party project.

I have to agree with lispy. Calendar might be important for some, less important for others. According to this, it has a certain priority for Jolla - and this priority is obviously not what some users here expect. However, there's nothing that stops people from developing alternatives. Either by writing an app from scratch (which isn't the wisest thing to do probably) or by building on existing projects, adapting their UIs and making them snap into the Sailfish system of accounts (CalDav) and alarms.

There is, for example, a calendar app for Ubuntu Touch that should be fairly compatible with what we find on Sailfish. It will be interesting to have a look at it - probably also because from this experience some will learn that the Jolla app isn't all that bad in comparison. :)

@ossi1967 i disagree with you, all users may express what they want, but it is to jolla to choose in which market they want to place their products. If they want to gain the business people, then should the carddav and caldav one of the highest priority. But i demand you to rethink on what we think about. You speak for an app, the jolla one is already a third app. I mean and i think it talk about the backend interface side (means buteo) which provide to every apps. You may a nice app but if buteo has a leak than it won't be better. Otherwise the app make all the task independent, and has nothing to do with the account interface of the os. Do you think what i mean?
We speak, you, lispy and i, about 2 different things. Don't we?

Is this a duplicate of for example https://together.jolla.com/question/110708/app-request-calendar-app/?

To be honest, I dont care about duplicates, but a lot if users have mentioned those calendar-issues since the beginning of the Jolla-story ... till now with no results. I think the best would be to code a new app. Unfortunately Im not able to code.

right, but i think a duplicate of this kind is more a signal of importance and priority...

More or less, I think the Calendar app should just be improved, most probably by the help of the community, we don't need another app that will be complicated to maintain in the future and that new customer will not be aware of.

@damourti i think that the buteo has some issue for this problem too. I mean that it make something with calendar wrong. I observed as i wanted to use a sfos carddav/caldav account for connection with cozy cloud.
