Aqua Fish comes with a previously unseen concept for integrating premium locally relevant content directly into the smart phone’s user interface. These services, called Super Apps, are available to the user with a single swipe from the smart phone’s home view, and they are designed to improve the user experience significantly.

I would like to know, if it is possible to remove theese Apps. That's an important reason FOR or AGAINST buying an Aqua Fish. It's a KO-criterion for me.

Well if it is something aimed for manufacturers and/or operators, I would assume it is something that subsidizes the price of the device for the showing of selected advertisements and promotions like paid apps vs. advertisements in apps and making it easy to remove wouldn't be wise for Jolla.

I think if it's not removeable, they should offer a clean version which could cost a bit more. I would not buy a phone with bloatware. the only option than would be to remove it in a way it should not be done... but this damages waranty :/

As Jolla said, and as I explained in another thread, Super Apps are what funds Jolla to develop SailfishOS: Jolla will receive a fraction of the amount of sales made through this feature. It's the price you pay to get the OS, so think about it as a free way to donate to SFOS development. Android does the same by stealing your data instead of showing content.

As I said, that's not an option for me. I would rather buy a JollaPhone, even when its hardware is outdated.

If I have understood right, you don't have to ever visit the Super Apps view(s) if you choose so, it is just extra pages on the carousel.

In sailfishos you have full control over applications and can remove any with no problems.

i really doubt that you will be able to remove partner apps without devel-su or installing some kind of patch

I'm sure there is a simple way to get root acces and remove these applications.

@ced117 again, devel-su is not user-friendly way. But obviously it gives you control to do anything

Just delete? No manual delete necessary in file system? No config change?

nop, just uninstalled it from store

xxhell ( 2016-08-30 14:35:10 +0300 )edit

What do you see on the partner space, once you removed Gaana?

Venty ( 2016-09-08 16:13:29 +0300 )edit

Once you uninstalled ganaa app from the android aptitude store the partner space screen is gone. Meaning you only have the apps and the feed screen.

Have done that on my Aqua fish.
