Hi, I have a question regarding the calendar app. I have integrated a caldav account and added it to my calendars. This works normally fine. But in the last months I have realized that many of my appointments/event do not show up as reminder. So I reimported them sometimes up to seven times to make sure the phone knows them.

Still even if a success message came after importing I still didn't get the reminder. So I had the idea to delete my caldav account and recreate it until I saw that I have extremely many personal Calendars all with the same color!

I don't know how this happened since my main calendar should have been the caldav account. but now I sometimes can not even see this account in my calendars list. See the screenshots below:

I think this might be a bug. Can somebody confirm? Any workarounds available?

Other experiences that might help?? How can I delete this extra calendars? Somehow I'm not able to find the place where I can do this.

Thanks for the report.

It sounds like a bug in the calendar import process, which is causing calendar duplication.

How did you import the events? Is it from a CalDAV server, or imported via an ICS file using the Jolla Calendar application, or did you import using the icalconverter tool?

I used two ways mainly: adding a new event on the caldav server and importing an event through .ics file (mail attachement) the third method with a converter I never tried and honestly didn't even know of. The ics files I usually send from an outlook exchange and they always work, if they get imported correctly and show up on the calendar. I think it would help if all the excess calendars could be deleted. I'm also playing with the idea if I simply delete the calendar app and reinstall it, but I'm not sure if this can help.

I'm having the same issue. Calendar info looks like is saved on $HOME/.local/share/system/privileged/Calendar/mkcal Inside this folder there is a file called 'db' which if you rename to db.bk (for example, just for not deleting it) all duplicates calendars go away.

In spite of this, I'm still having issues getting the calendar app to show my appointments :-/ Any idea?

@PatsJolla I cannot reproduce the calendar duplication issue when syncing from a (Fruux) CalDAV server. What type of CalDAV server are you syncing with? It's possible that there's a bug in the SailfishOS CalDAV plugin which is causing the duplication for some specific type of server, I suppose.

If you can get logs of the sync, that would also be helpful:

1) ensure that /etc/systemd/journald.conf has RateLimitInterval=10s and RateLimitBurst=5000 and then reboot if you had to change those values

2) restart sync scheduler with debugging enabled:

systemctl --user stop msyncd
MSYNCD_LOGGING_LEVEL=8 devel-su -p msyncd

3) leave that running, and open a new ssh terminal to collect logs:

devel-su journalctl -af | grep caldav | cat > caldav.log

4) trigger a sync with the CalDAV account via Settings -> Accounts -> Long-press CalDAV account -> Sync

Redact any personal information from the caldav.log file and send it to chris dot adams at jolla dot com and I will investigate.

@elfio Are you also syncing via CalDAV? When you say that the calendar app won't show the appointments, do you mean Reminders (Alarms) associated with the event, or do you mean that you just cannot see the event at all, when you open jolla-calendar application? If the latter, can you use sqlite3 to inspect /home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Calendar/mkcal/db to see if the events exist in the database? (The Components table is the interesting one; please check that if they exist, they don't have a DateDeleted value - deleted events won't show up.)

e.g.:

devel-su sqlite3 /home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Calendar/mkcal/db "select * from Components;"

Thanks!

So far I never had this Problem again so I close this thread the solution was deleting the db file which seemed to be corrupted.
