Ordered an Aqua Fish from India. Is it possible to get

  • the Declaration of Conformity for the Jolla C
  • a confirmation from Jolla that the Jolla C is the identical hardware as the Aqua Fish

to have any chance with the european customs administration because of the missing CE confirmation?

I don't know if this can help you, but the notified body who issued the CE marking for the Jolla C (number 0700) is a few steps away from you: it's Phoenix Testlab, located in Blomberg, in the Lippe. You could try asking them about the Jolla C certification.

Wow, thx. But normally Jolla has to publish it or they have to put it into the box of the device, don't they? But ignore my request to publish it... And from import regulatories, they have to provide a german manual, too. So, why this was no problem with the Jolla C? Perhaps TNT or UPS are the better shipping providers for such imports...

They must provide certification and test reports if requested IIRC.

Jolla is not the company making the Aqua Fish, so I don't think they have to, and Intex is not selling this phone outside India, so they don't have to either, right?

Answer from Jolla in zendesk:

It is not possible as Jolla C is not the same hardware as that for the Intex Aqua Fish.

If you need such a document, you must request it from Intex.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Jolla C and Intex Aqua Fish have different hardware. They differ at least in network hardware as they support different LTE bands.

Do you know the exact RF hardware? There are chips supporting all bands. So could be a software/firmware thing.

I have no official info, however I have found here a few words about Jolla C having "european phone module".

Disasm ( 2016-08-05 12:52:36 +0300 )edit

Thx! That would be really sad, because we would have only a minimum chance to see the Aqua fish in the EU.

@Disasm That first time I have seen an indication Jolla C and Aquafish have different hardware. I really can't see Jolla-the-company doing a custom ~1500-2000 piece run just for Jolla C.

I guess official clarification would be welcome - even just for the people from outside of India who already ordered the Aquafish.

@MartinK: I still don't believe this, too. Also because the C identifies itself as aqua fish.Could be the "official" marketing answer I got in zendesk. I contacted Intex now. Let's see....
