I'm trying to use Reliance JIO sim in Aqua Fish. In the Sim Settings, it would appear searching for the network for sometime and says Network Denied. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, if it has to do with the Sailfish/Reliance sim.

Please help me.

Has your Jio connection been activated? I remember something similar hapened to me with BSNL, on a Nokia phone, where I got an error message that it couldn't "register with the network" (or something like that - it was a long time back) and it was because my BSNL connection hadn't been activated yet.

I called Reliance JIO customer care. Actually they told that it's activated BUT it's in JIO Welcome Offer Migration. So services might be unavailable, and asked us to wait for one or two days. (Update: It probably isn't the issue.)

I will update once it is verified/fixed.

Thank you.

Update 1: Now the 4G signal is showing in the top. But still internet is not coming since it showing disable in the Internet settings.

Update 2: Still the same status. Giving up for now.

Update 3:Asked a different questions since the problem is no longer Access denied. https://together.jolla.com/question/149936/jio-4g-network-disabled-and-problem-with-connectionworking-in-android/

I think it is an issue with Reliance Jio network rather than the phone. You need to get proper confirmation from them on whether your SIM is activated and ready to use. Please also make sure that you have configured your device properly as described here. Also note that if you got the SIM along with JioFi MiFi device, it will not work on any 4g phone.

@sifartech I've tried this sim in Android, and it's working fine. I even have updated sailifish to 2.04.14. Still the same issue. I asked a new question: https://together.jolla.com/question/149936/jio-4g-network-disabled-and-problem-with-connectionworking-in-android/

@suji hi sujit, did you find any solution?

pinkpanther ( 2016-10-15 15:17:51 +0200 )edit

The following link claims Jio 4g issue fixed on sailfish 2.0.4.13 early access release. I updated but still getting same problem with data connection error. No solution as on date. https://together.jolla.com/question/146300/release-notes-204fiskarsinjoki/#146300-telephony

Actually I have tried in both the slots. The sim when inserted in the 2nd slot worked fine for some time and now though the sim is working on Jolla 1/Nexus-5 where at least I can play youtube and browse but in Intex it is showing me the signal strength and status switches between connected and limited connectivity

@sujit did the problem with the data connection got resolved? How?

Only Net can be Used in Intex aqua fish. For using call feature in jio , We should wait for next Update of SailfishOs - 2.0.4 as ”Fix Jio India Network” is written in its Release note.

Still JIO Sim Not activated in eKYC , I think It will take 24-48Hours ,the Data is enabled but The Jio Recharge Page is showing Sim not verified/activated. @pinkpanther Bro, If It is showing 'Problem in Connection ' then change sim to Slot 2and Set Jio as Data Sim.

Maybe you should go into settings menu and select sub-menu "mobile network" (or is it called "SIM settings" in English??): In the "mobile network" (SIM Settings) submenu, deselect the option "choose mobile Network automatically" (or whatever it's called in English), thus enabling manual network selection. Note hat automatic network selection is activated per default.

After a while, your provider's network should be listed. Select this network manually and then go back.

At least this worked for me (I got that message yesterday without having changed my SIM Card).

When I do that, I'm getting "Oops, Could not connect to the network.." Reliance JIO, is 4G only network. I'm thinking if updating Sailifsh OS to 2.0.2.51 will fix the issue?

pinkpanther ( 2016-09-13 19:51:43 +0200 )edit

Good luck! I understand that you found your provider's network listed in the menu but could not select it manually? If that is the case, it might be related to LTE. I am using Jolla 1 with LTE and it works great in Europe. I also put my SIM Card in the Jolla C (that supposedly is almost identical to Aqua Fish) but I cannot recall whether it went 4G or 3G.

AkiBerlin ( 2016-09-13 20:01:11 +0200 )edit

When I selected, it tries to connect and says could not. If I select automatic, then also it tries and tells Network Denied at the end.
