J1 - touchscreen partially not working

Hey Sailors,

I think it's a kind of stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. Out of a sudden one line (about 3mm) of the touchscreen doesn't react to touch nor swipe actions anymore. I didn't drop or scratch it in any way. It's in the middle of the screen, so the phone can't be used very well. I dismantled the phone completely but couldn't find anything unusual. Is there in any way the possibility that it's software related? I updated to 2.0.2 recently and thought it could have to do something with the update. I know - wishful thinking - I just don't want to buy another phone. The only other phone which comes to my mind is the fairphone 2, but there's no official sailfish support yet :-(

please help me out, Ray

My screen has shattered completely. In November 2015, asked Jolla Care how to get my phone repaired. Their answer was postponing: Due to an unforeseen situation with spare parts, we are not able to accommodate out of warranty repair requests for screen replacement at this time. They also offered to contact me when "the situation has been rectified", but we all know they're out of the hardware business at all by now. I never heard of them again. I was able to use my J1 with a shattered screen until about a month ago, when the touch screen finally went into a random ghost finger generator (tm), entering the PIN is impossible now. I'd love to recover data from this phone or replace the screen with a piece from a bricked phone. I could not find a bricked J1 on offer anywhere, though.

I had the same issue. After a month it progressed to level at which half of the display does not respond to swipes. I was forced to buy Aquafish.... :/

Such screen problems are unfortunately HW related in maybe 95% of the time. The capacitive matrix on that area of the screen has broken, maybe internal connection shortcut inside the glass.
