While the phone is locked with the enabled setting of "Allow feeds while locked", the notifications view does not stay on screen after a swipe from the bottom of the screen. It is displayed only as long as the swipe is in progress. I can imagine this could be a feature and "by design", but the problem is that I can also interact with the notifications in the short time they are displayed after releasing the swipe.

If the design was to allow peeking into the notifications screen while the phone is locked but nothing more, then interacting with those notifications would be a bug.

Yes, this annoys me, too. You can't even see that your device is locked, except by swiping to the launcher O.O

My suggestions is that the notifications screen would stay up, even when the device lock is enabled, like it does when no device lock is enabled. Then one should be able to interact with the icons, and before entering the corresponding app the pin entry screen should be shown.

Else the "Allow feeds while lock" setting is close to useless, as you swipe up to see the new email/feed/etc, but then you are forced back to the lock screen, where you have to pull up the pin entry screen. Then you can access the notifications screen.

This is exactly what I ecpect from the "Allow feeds when locked" setting. If I can't jump to the application that created the notification (after entering the lock code) it's broken usability, imho. Is there already a question that asks for the behaviour described in the answer above?

Not that I'm aware of. I've disabled device lock for now, so I've forgotten about this issue. Feel free to create a request. :)

Its a feature by design. Even if you would manage to click any of them they should not open any other views than devicelock screen. If you manage to open any other app then its a bug.

But thanks for the feature request, we will see if functionality can be improved in future releases.

Then maybe deny feeds while locked settings would be good for you as temporary fix. That way you cant interact without devicelock code. We will test to see if we can repro. Can you repro in 1.0.3.8 as there has been many fixes since December?

Actually, I cannot reproduce this in 1.0.3.8, so that bug/feature is probably squashed.

However, the original concern is still valid: If you use lock code, the way we interact with the notification screen is inconsistent: If a) lock code is still not activated yet (using, say, 10 minute setting), we can slide up, and interact. If b) the code is active, slide up, try to interact, but the screen goes away, we must swipe away lock-screen to enter code and then slide back notifications.

Well yes that is the intended behaviour, while your are locked you can have a quick peek to see if there is anything interesting in there that is worth entering unlock code. And if not you can keep device locked and open it later.

@rainisto: as said in my answer/suggestion: I'd rather have the notification screen stay and the pin entry screen presented to me when/if I tap any of the icons on the notification screen.

Or just stay, for the consistency of things. If I wanted the notification screen to go away I'd just revert the swipe.
