Anyone have any idea how many were sold / produced?

The word on the street is that they're not making any more of them. The intex site even links to an ebayer who has run out of them, Amazon india doesn't have them anymore.

There are still some sellers but they're going by the fistful now rather than by the bucketload. I'd be expecting a few more of those guys to run out of them before or shortly after the Christmas

Should resist, but have to ask : do you want to catch em all? ;D

if "the word on the street" is true its a real pity. I think that the aqua fish is a fine mobile and a real bargain. Any idea why? A reason I could think of is that many customers were not satisfied (around 1/3 one star reviews on amazon.in *) e.g.) mainly because they expected ALL android features to work. Just speculating - but maybe many handsets were returned which means costs and trouble for the seller.

*) on the other hand almost as many 5 star reviews.

Its difficult to say; we do not know what the intention with these 20K's were in the first place. Might be that they would continue even if only few of them were sold, or the opposite might be true, that even for 20K sold it might have been "just" an experiment and nothing else will come from it. As we do not know Intex'es intentions, its impossible to really say.

All I can say, is that I have seen better download rates on my apps in harbour since the aqua fish has been on sale, which is encouraging.

There is a thread for this question over at maemo.org which links to a website with indian Import/Export data. According to this site there were 20.000 Aqua Fish imported into India between June and August.

If these figures are still up to date, and theses batches are still not sold out, it is quite disappointing and a bad sign for Jolla. Any reason for Intex to continue the cooperation and maybe pump more money into the SFOS project?

but at least on amazon there are a few hundred of reviews. if you think about, how many people are doing reviews (i would count less then 10%), and not all have been sold over amazon then its possible, that most of the 20k are sold. and its possible, that they have an amount of phones reserved for cases of guarantee.

18100 Aqua Fishes and 1900 Jolla C's (probably).

Correcting myself - the numbers were 18800 and 1200 speculating from the fact that 1200 pieces were missing from the shipment taken from the site in the other question, but I see that actually the last 1200 pieces in the last batch were shipped some time later, so Jolla C's actually took another route.

Check 91mobiles.com to compare prices and see which online shopping sites sell the phone in India.

One - the one i bought, also if its 20k at the end i think thats a humongous boost for the sailfish community (and developers), given that Jolla 1 phones are starting to show their age and after 3years batteries tend to fail (not to mention LCD screens turn yellow slowly).
