Fast Battery Drain towards the end

One of the reasons I love my AquaFish is that its battery lasts very long; about 3 days for me. It had always been the case that I would still have ~ 7 or 8 hours left, after the phone hit a low battery level of 10%.

But now, with the 2.0.4.14 (Fiskarsinjoki) update, even thought the drain seems normal for most of the time, once it hits the 10% mark, it drains to a full shut-down within an hour.

Is this a known issue?

How are you getting that long battery life? For me battery barely seems to last a day.

having the same issue, the lower the battery the more the phone seems to get into high gear and the hotter it becomes, instead of suspending or hibernating processes.

@utkarsh I don't use the Android compatibility layer, hardly ever use internet (wifi or mobile) on it; rarely, to book a cab or look something up. Basically just use it like a non-smart phone most of the time.

Hi! This issue is known.

More info for mind is here:

EDIT 03-12-2016

@kat6, some days ago I watched a little the behavior of CPU when the battery level was less then 10%.

screenshot 22:26

screenshot two minutes later

The strange thing is "Core 4 (sleeping)". I saw this for the first time. Usually, the CPU frequency goes down to 200 MHz in idle.

Then I plugged in the charger and used Jolla C further.

I was surprised the frequency of CPU was limited to 533 MHz. charging 12%

Limits was removed after the charge level was more then 20%.

This situation reminds me A. Puskin's poem (1829, published in 1884)

About how wonderful discoveries we
Prepare the spirit of enlightenment
And experience the son of errors difficult,
And the genius, paradoxes the friend,
And if the inventor of God...

Best regards, Asmir

P.S.: for example, two cores manually switch off. 2 + 2 = 4

Okay, but I don't think any of them is precisely this, that there is an extremely fast drain after low-battery.

post EDIT: Interesting. So do you think the switched-off CPU is making the phone function less efficiently?

kat6 ( 2016-12-03 09:58:07 +0300 )edit

Not so. I don't think so. My message is

  1. "IN STOCK, msm8930 (Jolla1) switches off one core in idle, msm8909 (Jolla C) sets frequency 800 MHz in idle".

  2. When the battery level is 10% and less strange things are happen with power consumption

Due the first reason, in idle the power consumption of Jolla C (4 cores working always) is bigger than Jolla 1's (1 core working always). So I charged my Jolla C every day. Then I changed governor to "ondemand" (in stock was "interactive") and set the minimal frequency to 200 MHz (in stock was 800 MHz). And now I charge the phone once every two days (on average).

I tried to switch off 2 of 4 cores manually. As a result the phone was unusability...

I observed none of this when I obseved my phone through a battery drop to below ~5%. All cores were active at the same frequency.
