Description

With Sailfish OS 2.1.1.x E-Mails, which were manually marked as unread, are not shown on the Events View anymore but only in the overview of the native E-Mail application.

Affected devices and versions

This regression occured after updating my Jolla1 to Sailfish OS 2.1.1.x.

How to reproduce

  1. Receive an E-Mail to an account setup on your SFOS device
  2. Open and read this E-Mail on your device
  3. Mark this E-Mail as unread again
  4. Result: The E-Mail is not shown on the Events View

Expected behaviour

The expected behaviour is that all unread E-Mails are shown on the Events View. So the Events View needs to be updated after marking an E-Mail as unread and show this unread E-Mail.

This expected behaviour was implemented in previous SFOS versions and has been removed in SFOS 2.1.1.x.

Comments

My opinion is that it was a regression to re-add the "marked as unread" emails back to the events view. The new email ringtone is also annoyingly played when performing this action.

I think the expected behavior should be to only display new e-mails in the events view (i.e. e-mails which were newly received since you last looked through the Email app). Once you opened the Email app, the events view should be cleared to avoid cluttering it. Marking an email as unread should only display it as unread inside the Email app and as a count on the app cover, but without playing a ringtone or re-adding it to the events view.
