[JollaPhone1] Speakers make no sound

Since a day or two, the speakers appear to be broken. The music player shows it's playing, but I hear no sound. I can't hear notifications, the alarm, or people calling me either. This basically makes me unable to use the phone for the most basic features you require a phone for, without using earphones.

Could this be a software problem, or is it hardware related?

Have you run CSD Tool?, to get to csd tool, go to Settings/About product/ and tap 5 times on the Build text version number, a new window opens, swipe to Accept, select Individual tools and scroll down to Audio section - get testing!

@Edz I never heard of that tool till today, it's well hidden ;)

The "Loudspeaker playback" test fails (I hear no sound) as I expected. However, interestingly enough, the "Receiver playback" passes (I do hear sound). Is that the same speaker?

Also try to press and bend your phone gently in the speaker area at the bottom while playing music. Happens with mine occasionally, even had it for repair once.

@lakutalo, holy shit, that works! Can I fix that permanently somehow?

Not really, unless you're a soldering wizard. I, for one learned to live and get along with it. BTW thanks Markky for helping me recall that shortcut. :) Had to dial *#*#310#*#* for assistance recently.

This ended up being a hardware issue indeed. The "fix" was pressing the phone gently in the speaker area at the bottom while playing some music. Now audio plays fine again.

They don't make phones like that any more. In the olden days you could use them to knock down the mugger and call an ambulance right away.
