I am accessing an Exchange based e-mail account through the Jolla _E-mail_ client and Microsoft Exchange plugin. After receiving an e-mail that contained two attachments, one _.docx_ and one _.pdf_, I proceeded to download the attachments and view them on my Sailfish X.

When trying to open the _.docx_ attachment, the e-mail client was attempting to open the file with an app I had installed called _tIDEditor_. This should not have happened as I don't believe that app supports such filetypes. Of course, it didn't look correct as _tIDEditor_ simply opened a blank file instead.

I know that _.pdf_ e-mail attachments are normally opened by the Jolla app, _Documents_ so I downloaded and opened it. However, it also attempted to do the same thing and open it with _tIDEditor_. So, I uninstalled _tIDEditor_ from the device and tried to view the attachments in the e-mail again. This time, it attempted to open them with the Jolla app, _Notes_ (!?). This simply opened the _Notes_ app and loaded nothing.

I opened some previous e-mails, which also contained _.pdf_ attachments, knowing that these were viewed correctly in the _Documents_ app. These older e-mails with attachments were still being opened correctly in _Documents_. So why is this one e-mail attempting to open its attachments with the wrong app?

I had to remove the attachments that are, by default, downloaded to Downloads/mail_attachments/. Once I did this, I re-downloaded them within the e-mail and it correctly opened them with the _Documents_ app.

It seems strange that I had to go to these lengths to get the e-mail client to open the attachments with the correct app. What could have caused this?

It also appears that Markdown italic formatting is not working correctly on this site once messages are posted. Yet, the Markdown formatting displayed perfectly fine when previewing my post before submitting. Bugs galore @ Jolla!

Did you use Mimer at any point?

I'm not familiar with Mimer but if it helps to resolve such problems in the future, I can look into it.

Mimer can help you choose with what standard app files are opened. Very handy to kill the native browser.

I got also a nice error when opening a docx file: Could not open /home/nemo/Downloads/**.docx Reason: Format not recognized

Is there a way to add more files to the documents app?
