How to use TorBrowser with Sailfish X

Bit off-topic, but a serious (and not offending) question: Can you or someone with Tor experience tell me some personal advantage you get by using it?

I mean it's defacto an organization found and still financed by US-Military, -Intelligence and -Government. The end-nodes can "see" everything except the IP. Everyone can create nodes. And as there are less than 3000, it doesn't need much of them to "fish" huge amount of traffic and even break anonymity. Plus, at least eight Tor employees earn more than 100.000$/year (max. 145.000$).

Usually that's enough argumentation to keep that away from me, but as I see honorable people using Tor, I just might not get it. Is the .onion content so good that it's worth it? Or something else I don't understand?

If, hypothetically speaking, some instance would want to deny you access to websites from other countries as you could be a) trying to see news other than your state news, b) trying to express opinions that are prosecuted or at least not very beneficial for you, especially criticising current politics or social problems c) work for some kind of NGO and having to rely on communications passing through etc.

There's always a chance for criminal energy, human failure or exploitation, but the involvement of the Tor network in last decade's political events (people able to communicate even though the state cut off the mobile connectivity) shows how overly important such an instance can and will be, both on personal and international scale.

Tor has its downsides, be it its USAmerican heritage, the low speed/bandwidth, the missing trustworthiness of entry, bridge and exit nodes or the criminal possibilities, but I consider its existence justified.
