On my XA2, the call recording feature only records my side of the conversation, but not the other side. I.e. on play back, I can hear myself talking, but not the other party. The feature is nearly useless because of this. Only because the device actually seems acoustically pick up and record the sound coming from the ear piece, the other side can be heard, but unclear and very faintly.

This kind of features should be robust! If a recording is made for legal or emotional purposes, there is no do-over. It would be better NOT to have a feature at all and be able to act accordingly, than finding out it doesn't work when it's too late to recover.

Please Review the gui in settings too, the display of the date of each records is incomplete.

edit: still broken on 3.0.3.8 :(

edit: and still broken on 3.1.0.11 :((

edit: and still broken on 3.2.0.12. :((( Again, if it doesn't work, then at least remove the option. It's useless now.

edit: broken even on the Xperia 10 :((((

hmmm same for JP1.
I suggest to check if the issue is on other phones, and maybe make the focus of the thread wider ...

It looks like the 3.2.1 release fixes this problem on both XA2 and X10. The release notes only mention the X10, but the changelog seems to indicate it's fixed for XA2 as well. I've just tested on my XA2, and call recording now works.

Issue seems to be by jolla phone too.

On JP1 the functionality worked with sfos 2.2.0.
I don't now how it was with v2.2.1. I didn't test it....
But for v3.0 didn't worked.
With v3.0.1 is solved on jolla phone.

Otherwise, the display of the date of each records in settings gui , is incomplete.

Does anyone knows in which year there where created?

I have the same problem recording a call on the Sony XA2. The sound is very quiet and you can't hear the caller when you listen to the call recording. SF 3.0.3.10 on XA2 Is there a solution

Same problem with my XA2 H4113 the caller sound can hardly be heard. I really hope you can fix this.

ideally it would be cool to set a parameter of sound level for recording the call. eventually 2.
on my xperia xa2+ i have the level of the my side with a correct level. but the one of other side it really to low. not understandable...

@Fuzzillogic are you sure that it record nothing? as i already commented above i had an issue with my jp1 where the sound was too weak.
Shortly i remarked with my XA2+ that the other side is too weak. difficult to understand the other side. I don't know how is the implementation of the interface. But i can represent myself that each phone has it own (and different) amplifier. If it is implemented with one and universal parameter (or same code for all devices). then there is maybe a problem.

Try to analyse the record file with a tool like audacity then you could observe if there is some trace on the track.

I mean, jolla knows where to act and how, it was already fixed.
Now other devices are on the stage. And then someone made maybe some mini improvement and is back to an old state.
They should investigate and make all devs on same stand to fix it and make it durable on there release route.

But please verify if it's really nothing on the track, or just a really slow one, that none may remark. that could really help the devs, because it make really a difference between both.
I think they should adapt a part for each devices on stage and definitively...

I'm positive. The only sound from the remote end is acoustically picked up from the earpiece through the device by the microphone. So, yes there is some sound, but it is very faint. I've just tried with wired headphones, to rule out the acoustic route, and while I can hear the remote end through the headphones, no sound whatsoever from the remote end is recorded.

shortly told you means that there is sound but no recorded artifacts (speech) is that correct?

cemoi71 ( 2019-10-31 00:18:51 +0300 )edit

@cemoi71 the local's side mic is still recorded. There is sound, but nothing coming directly from the remote side.

really strange... with mine (xa2+) there is something too weak, but there is something. xa2+ is not so much different than a xa2...

cemoi71 ( 2019-10-31 12:21:57 +0300 )edit

Same with the Xperia 10 (non plus)
