[BUG] Xperia X Can No Longer Reboot Successfully (Red LED)

When attempting to reboot my Xperia X (either via native options or via Lighthouse), the device displays the red notification LED and is never able to reboot. The phone appears to be off (black screen) but is obliviously doing something as the device gets extremely hot (infinite loop?).

The only way to force the reboot is to hold the VOLUME UP + POWER keys.

This also means I'm not able to ever shut down / power off the device.

This happened (happens) to me when the WiFi system hangs with the new TP-Link access points at work.

Even when WLAN is off or the device is in flight mode, the problem still exists when either attempting to shut down or reboot so I'm not sure it's Wi-Fi related for me.

holding volume / power buttons for 7-8 seconds causes 3 vibes and shutdown ...

Thanks @Levone1 that does indeed force the device to shutdown. However, what puzzles me is why the phone is not shutting down (or rebooting) via the usual method. The shutdown procedure starts, the screen goes off, but the red notification LED is constantly lit, and the phone gets increasingly hotter and hotter until either (a) the phone explodes or (b) it runs out of battery power (which is what tends to happen). I wonder what could be causing this.

Some system mod/tweak, (patch, mcetool, boot script... )?

This appeared to be caused by a faulty SD card: https://together.jolla.com/question/203552/

When unmounting the card and removing the SD from the Xperia, the device was able to immediately shutdown/reboot when requested.

Use your laptop/desktop to run a CHKDSK (I'm pretty sure that's the correct command) on the SD card.

On Windows 7 I think you can also right click on the SD card where it shows up in Windows Explorer, click on Properties, then Tools, choose Check Now in the Error Checking section. I think this will check for errors and fix them. Once you have done this it should solve your rebooting problems when the SD card is inserted. It did for me anyway.

As mentioned earlier in my other post (https://together.jolla.com/question/203552/), the SD cards filesystem is f2fs. I'm not sure what the level of support is in Windows for this type of filesystem, but I'm using Linux so f2fs-tools is required. The CHKDSK /F equivalent would be using fsck in Linux, but with f2fs, it will be fsck.f2fs.
