In the Sony Xperia XA2, why does sailfish-browser redownload a file that has been fully downloaded when you open the browser again?

asked 2019-08-18 08:07:30 +0300

I see this reoccurring issue that if I have already finished downloading a file and exit sailfish-browser and then next time when I open the browser again it starts to redownload the same file again.

why was that closed?? the alledged duplicete you are referring to is from 2016. and it claims to be solved by "released in a software update".

this problem here show up with the new sailfish os version 3.1! so it's a new problem!

you are not helpful when you close all new problem reports because ten years back you had a similar problem report.

@jabgoe, the idea is to up date original posts of the same or a similar nature, if you don't agree, then you have the right to re-open it. I'm not arguing or being pedantic. Please feel free to re-open if you wish.

Check if you have close all tabs when closing browser unchecked in browser setting. Some pages open download link in new tab. So it's possible that closing browser left dowload page open and started dowload again.

Edit 28.8.2019: Encountered this with my Jolla. Opened direct download link outside browser. Download started and page/tab closed and other tab from previous session open. Closed browser and after opening it again got download pop-up. Opening new tab that "replace" so called invisible tab seems to fix it. Happened only once, I assume that opening tab fixed it. Didn't test it more since I was on move back then.

I had something similar with Chrome or Fx on my Jolla phone as well. I think you also re-trigger a download if you restart a previous browser session.

no, i don't see any download popups. the browser just starts to download the same file again after starting it. the original tab is long gone
