I tried the Amazon Appstore in order to get Angry Birds, but the two apps I tried to install from there are now constantly shown as being in a 'downloading' state. There was a progress bar for a while, I swiped out to do something else, came back and the progress bar was at the end but the status was downloading. I have tried closing the Appstore, rebooting the phone etc, but if I go to the Appstore and 'My Apps' section, the two apps are still shown as downloading, with no progress. Anyone else with the same?

For the moment I would like to avoid developer mode and to keep the device with a pure Jolla experience (though I guess you could argue installing the Amazon Appstore already slightly broke that). Anything that I could still try?

Would be great to get a working Amazon setup as it seems like a better experience than Yandex and its many dubious apps.

I experienced the same with the Amazon store. I finally uninstalled it and switched over to 4mobile which wasn't working that good either. Difficult to get apps installed/updated/uninstalled. I quit using Android apps from stores and now use only my own extracted APK files which are a lot easier to handle.

It is possible to get everything working without developer mode. Most important is that only one app can be installed on a time. After starting the install process, you have to wait until the system notifications pop up. Now, close the app store and start them again.

When the amazon store get stocked, you have to remove the last installed app from the normal icon view by pressing and clicking the cross. Then it should work.

  • First installation: click on install, wait until popup and restart amazon app store

  • Update app: click on update, wait until app store stuck, close the app store and remove the app via the jolla icon view. Start app-store again und wait for the popup. Restart the app store a second time.

  • If the amazon app store get stucked, uninstall the last installed or updated app via the jolla icon-vew.
  • Uninstall app: Never uninstall an amazon-app by the normal jolla-icon view!!! A app which is deinstalled by this way cannot be reinstalled by the amazon app-store again, as the store thinks that the app is not uninstalled. For uninstall an app, go to the app-store and remove the app with a long click.
  • Workaround for wrongly uninstalled apps: All app-apk are stored into /data/sdcard/Android/data/com.venezia.amazon/files/apks. Install the removed apk again and deinstall the app over the app-store.

After a while, /data/sdcard/Android/data/com.venezia.amazon/files/apks can be get quite full. It is save to removed all apk in this directory. But then it is not possible to restore wrongly uninstalled apps.

I don't think this is an answer to my question. The apps are constantly in 'downloading' state. They are not shown in my app screen and are not shown as installed with Amazon Appstore. Ie. there is nothing I can uninstall (apart from maybe the Appstore itself). I actually tried to install them one at a time initially. The first one got stuck in that state, so I tried something else, and the same thing.

Can you go with an android file explorer (e.g. ES) to /data/sdcard/Android/data/com.venezia.amazon/files/apks and install the stucked app by clicking on the correct apk in this folder ?

I installed ES, and found those apks, but nothing happens when I tap on them or select 'install'. Also now Amazon Appstore just quits after starting :I For some reason now all the Android apps also exit as soon as I swipe out of them. Seems like my Android environment is now screwed up...

I had the same issue, and i could resolve the problem. But i do not remember how i did this. Can you restart your alien dalvik or the phone? Do you have now the icon of these apk in the jolla icon view? If this is the case, then you should try to deinstall them by long pressing. After this you should start the app shop. Sorry this is only guessing, as i do not exactly know what i did to solve this problem. But it is possible without deinstalling the appshop or removing alien dalvik.

Ok i found a solution sorry for misleading. https://together.jolla.com/question/8231/amazon-app-store-bug/ They say, that you should delete apk file from /data/sdcard/Android/data/com.venezia.amazon/files/apks. This should reset the amazon store and the app should be redownloaded.

This seems to have resolved itself with the update to Ohijärvi, so closing it (at least for now).
