Today I noticed that my speaker doesn't speak to me anymore all of a sudden. Headphones still work, however when there is no sound being played, I keep hearing a nasty clicking sound that will only cease when unplugging the headphones or upon a new sound being played.

I already tried (soft?) rebooting via "reboot" and restarting pulseaudio none of which did have an effect. The "csd" testing tool (as suggested here ) didn't produce output either (yet, this doesn't seem to indicate the speaker is really broken according to that thread).

Any ideas or suggestions? Are there any pulseaudio settings I could check?

Edit: I also already tried to change the Ambience.

Hi rod, it seems, that you have tried everything expect a factory reset. I had a similar issue. Please look at https://together.jolla.com/question/30942/intermittent-sound-problems-from-speaker/

Just to follow up: I sent my Jolla for repair and it returned today with a fully functional speaker. Thanks Jolla and repair team!

Did you send it to repair from Finland or another country (I am asking because getting service from outside of Finland still seems to be difficult - optima services does only work within Finland)

Sent it to Optima in Helsinki, Finland. No problems whatsoever from Germany, FedEx picked up my package and returned it.

Another follow up: After six months my speaker is dead again :( I don't want to send it back again, but I fear there is no other solution...

I had the same problem. I have looked on ebay and bought a replacement speaker HTC Windows Phone 8X C620E C620D C625E Lautsprecher Klingelton Buzzer Ringer (EAS15181C VNM G1524V19A) Size and pin fit perfectly, sound is a bit quieter. Good luck!!

Do you have a hint on how to replace it? Is it difficult and are there other speakers that are equally loud as the Jolla one? And is this really the sound speaker and not the telephone speaker?

Follow up 4: My speaker is dead again! :( Almost one year after the first failure. Come on, this really can't be just bad luck. I don't want so send it in again for the third time only to get it back and the speaker failing after 4-5 months. I'm handling my Jolla with quite some care and the speaker should not break from normal use.

You should have a look over in this thread: https://together.jolla.com/question/39900/no-sound-through-speaker/ . If your mechanical skills are not too bad you are able to solve this hardware issue by cleaning the contacts of your speaker and bending them a little bit so that they will have more pressure to the mainboard.
