If you're on the SailfishDevel mailing list, you probably know about (and maybe participating) to these meetings. Just in case you aren't aware and may be interested: these are public community meetings that started last month with discussions around development and collaboration in SailfishOS, as well as associated open source projects (such as Mer and Nemo).

  • Day: Tuesdays (generally)
  • Frequency: weekly (for now, maybe fortnightly later)
  • Time: in rotation (so people in different timezones can join)
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Location: #mer-meeting channel on Freenode IRC

Planning for next meetings are carried out on this wiki post: https://together.jolla.com/question/54157/sailfishos-open-source-collaboration-meeting-planning/ (which also contains links to past meetings so you can have an idea of what has been discussed)

The upcoming meeting is today (May 27) @ 15:00 UTC (check your local time here: http://bit.ly/1pbJprh ), and I'll be chairing it (anyone in the community is welcome to chair and moderate the meeting).

If you don't have an IRC client, you can access it here: http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=mer-meeting

Welcome to join us in today's meeting and subsequent ones!

I usually look at the chat after the meeting and I value this communication very much. Thanks for this! (even if I do not participate to the discussion)

Participating (just as a listener) has been a great experience too.

Apps amd UI are the front end things. Every new customer really need it to be of ease and good. I would addup that " Still Jolla has not Covered the Basics “ .

Not all customers are Geek .Even they need not know which qt version it runs. They just need basic apps first with easy functionality , which sailfish misses out. for example take photo gallery ,music ,Video players , dialer & contacts , no much options & easy functionality. ( i asked with my retail customers & friends , everyone had the similar suggestion ).

Sony Xperia Project is a big step but jolla should release only after covering basics. Like jolla Sony also has die hard fans so satisfying their requirements is must . if not they too will become mad like intex users , requesting for basics where ever they see comments.

Jolla should try to provide apis to developers and should try to allow some Daemon required applications in harbour or make them Jolla branded .

Jolla is really gifted with die hard community members like u all .They must try to provide attention to your requirements .

I am a newbie so don't know about Irc channel . If anyone feel its worth please talk about this in meeting or if its wrong please kindly mention in comments box.

You Developer's are really awesome & concerned . No where one could find such community people.

Thank you

.

I have to disagree. Sailfish OS is considered to be suitable even for senior people, as has been demonstrated https://blog.jolla.com/oulumo/been "Lumo is an always-on, easy-to-use, video alarm and care solution aimed especially at senior people".
