I know this has been posted before (#7744), but that question was closed because "duplicate", which I believe it isn't.

When I add my account (imap.telenet.be, same settings as in Thunderbird), the mailbox syncs once and afterwards stops. When I forcely ask it to sync, it starts syncing and then shows "Just now" (Gerade eben, my phone is in German). My other mailbox (imap.vub.ac.be) does work perfectly.

I have an update on the question that was asked before: when I go into the inbox and when I scroll down and choose to 'load more messages' (Weiter E-mails holen), it DOES sync the new e-mails.

Any clue?

EDIT: For some odd reason, today, just after posting this question, my Jolla decided to just sync my email like he should. So kinda "solved".

I have the excatly same behaviour on my phone (v1.0.8.21, Locale English, Timezone Automatic Berlin/Germany). My mail server is hosted by maniu.de and works fine with Evolution (GNU/Linux), Geary (GNU/Linux), HTC Desire Mail (Android), Maildroid (Android) and so on. I have already resetted the phone several times. Whats going on?

Only workaround is "Get more mails" at bottom, but even than only new mails show up. Removed mails doesn't "go away". I there somewhere a log I can access?

As you state the issue somehow resolved itself, is it okay to close the issue?
