This article talks about that "You will soon be able turn your Android device into a Sailfish device"

Jolla pioneered the ability to use existing Android hardware adaptations with the libhybris project and the first Jolla device is built upon an Android hardware adaptation (but is not Android, just uses the hardware adaptation)

What devices would you like to see SailfishOS on - what chipset, how much RAM, how big internal storage, what resolution and screen size, cores and speed? .. and why?

Droid 5, if leaks are true it should be very comparable to current Jolla (S4 dualcore, 1Gb RAM, 16Gb internal) but better screen 720p and HWKB

I see a lot of demand in the Answer section for Jolla (or nemo) Tablet. But before that happens, you must support landscape first. Please make it happen ;-)

I think this would be a nice improvement for the main Jolla website: allowing people to sign-up with their e-mail and current phone model they would wish to have Sailfish OS on. They could then be announced when Sailfish is available for their phone. I have friends who are interested in this.

Nokia N9. When it's no longer need it as backup for jolla. Why? It is physically smaller than jolla and display feels a bit nicer as well. But most importantly just to breath some life into it. New bugs are much more interesting than the old and known ones :)

Nokia N9 is not an Android Hardware Adaption device. Also there already exist ports of SailfishOS to N9.

These ports should just be a bit easier to install and update. I have an abandoned 64Gb N9 in my family and can't wait to get Sailfish in it.

A stable port would in fact be great (especially since the NFC could be usable, not stuck to The Other Half connection). Size is great too.

I love to breath some life into my N9, which was indeed damn expensive. It was a really good device, but it had way to many annoying bugs that weren't being fixed. Being able to put Jolla on it would make me very happy. :-)

Just read about the Fairphone, and sailfish's privacy policy + that kind of social/ecological awareness sounds like a perfect fit!

With Jolla I always start edge gestures from the edge of the device although they only need to be started from the edge of display. So I don't think it will be a problem even with a device that has all-display front. If needed, some threshold for gestures can be added in the OS.

Z1 compact. Only compact 'flagship' phone with flagship features and hardware. Also, Sony flagship phones are the only ones available in worldwide markets (as opposed to Japan) that are waterproof (necessary for me and desirable for many others). Also, Z1 Compact has been outselling iPhone in Japan (top of charts) for 4-5 months, and has been a huge success worldwide since its recent launch.

I reckon if Sailfish ran on a Z-series (MSM8974 SoC, quad Krait 400, Adreno 330) then it'l run on all devices with this SoC, isn't it? This includes a few SGS4, Nexus 5, LG G2, many Lumia (e.g. Lumia 1520) & the entire Z-series. Provided that those other devices have unlocked bootloaders and can be rooted (which might be a problem on the Lumia's).

The Puzzlephone.

It is currently on Indiegogo.

It seems to have:

relatively good hardware
it is an interesting idea with the modules
it is from a finnish startup
It should be relatively "sustainable" and ecological
made in Finland
and they just said that they think about an option to unlock the Bootloader. Update: they wrote in the Campaign comments: "Unlocked boot loader will be provided. And we love AOSP and Sailfish... ;)", so maybe there could be at least at some point some support for porting it, if not immediately.
Update:They have added a perk for development kit for custom Heart modules. so something like TOH seems possible... TOH, The Other Heart.
Update: PuzzlePhone and Jolla did announce cooperation on Slush just now, SFOS will be ported first as community version.

If I had to choose an alternative phone hardware, I would also take this one. Jolla is the proof that you don't need bleeding edge hardware, this one would be enough. It would make a cool development device :-)

Doesn't the Moto G uses the same SoC as the Jolla phone? The moto G is quad core (Cortex A7) while the Jolla is dual core (krait 200 or 300?). Otherwise they use the same gpu and lots of other stuff is the same. I don't think it will be too dificult to get Sailfish running on the Moto G. In fact I reckon it will run without lots of modifications on most devices with Adreno 305 and SoC's from MSM8226 (Cortex A7) upto MSM8930AB (Krait 300) (Jolla phone supposedly uses MSM8930AA which is Krait 300)

Most of my friends have this phone. Its ultra affordable so running sailfish on it would increase a huge user base for sailfish which in turn would bring more developer activity.

Honestly I won't cry if I cannot run it on Raspberry Pi. I am interested in booting Sailfish OS on boards with Allwinner and Rockchip CPU such as OLinuXino, CubieBoard and Radxa Rock.

A tablet, that will give me seamless experience of same OS features that I have and will have on Jolla device. No doubt porting to other hardware is great expectations but a Jolla Tablet would be excellent.

I voted for the Nexus 7 as it is a 'plain' Android tablet, but in general I think next port should be on any tablet (the one that offers the path of least resistance :) ), to show that SailfishOS can shine also on bigger devices than phones.
