Why z-order shuffling in home-screen? [not relevant]
1) I see it as a rudiment from the time begotten. Can't see any positive usability in having covers shuffled by z-order, last used cover jumping to topleft.
Last active app could have glow or any other visual indicator, but always shuffling the placement just makes impossible memorizing the location of covers. Covers could easily stay at the order they were launched and ideally also be manually sortable.
2) Z-ordering of launcher icons is causing unwanted shuffling of icons on every customization of a location of a single app launcher. To remedy this, icons at homescreen could be sorted vertically, having, for example, four columns of icons, each column having any number of app launchers (and no z-order icon placement adjustments of any kind between the columns).
While these are minor things, i think these changes should improve overal usability and should maybe be considered.
Full ACK, though this might be a duplicate to that: https://together.jolla.com/question/428/fixed-sorting-of-application-covers-on-home-screen/
