Can not use jolla under rain?

last week, my jolla sent to repair since it keeps reboot itself. Finally, they said my moisture indicator turned red and said my phone was dropped into water, so that they refused to repair and change.

I never drop my phone into water. The only case of my jolla contact with water is that I used my phone when it was raining last month. So, such rain can turn the indicator red?

My Jolla keep rebooting, I can only stop it by removing the battery. It started 2 week after I buy the phone. The OS and control are nice. Even though the support is not good as androids and iOS, I would like to support something new.

However, they keep asking me to do factory recovery. After I did it many times, the reboot issue is still here.

It's common pratice not to repair devices under warranty when the moisture indicator shows they were exposed to water. Same when you come to one of our shops (I work at a carrier) with a smartphone: contact with water means no repair. And yes, exposure to rain is contact with water and can trigger all sorts of malfunction.

On the other hand, I recently spilled my mug of cold coffee over the device. My Jolla was covered with the sweet, milky sauce, the whole screen was wet, two sides of the phone drowned in coffee. Still, when I had finally managed to clean the outside and removed the other half with sweaty, trembling fingers to see what damage I'd caused inside, everything was dry and fine. So I guess the Jolla is reasonably protected as long as the rain doesn't keep pouring right into the openings for USB and headphone.

I think it's really down to luck when it comes to moisture. I've had an iPhone floating in my pocket after being caught in a rainstorm. It kept working for years. Others die just by looking at some spilled water. I guess it's nothing more than good / bad luck where the liquid happens to get into the device, unfortunately.

Years ago, my Siemens A35 got damaged after I used it in the bathtub without touching the water, just because of water vapour.

Years ago, I accidently dropped my Nokia N73 in a river. Underwater for about 5 seconds. I let it dry for a couple of days. It still worked.

The Jolla isn't water proofed afaik - so using it in the rain is probably a bad idea (as is using any electronics device not specifically designed for moist conditions). The Jolla warranty is pretty straight forward when it comes to moisture damage:

This Limited Warranty does not apply if the Product has been exposed to moisture, to dampness or to extreme thermal or environmental conditions or to rapid changes in such conditions, to corrosion, to oxidation, to spillage of food or liquid or to influence from chemical products.

Source - Jolla warranty policy

I think this is a common policy to most phone makers, that they won't cover any damage under warranty if the moisture detectors have been tripped.

If the problem is with water infiltration, just dip the phone in a bowl of rice for a couple of hours. It will become moist free. So long as there is no permanent short circuit damage, you'll be ok.

Disclaimer: it will not return the moisture indicator back to ok state

Not sure if your issue is due to moisture, as reboot loops caused by poor battery fit and power management issues are very common. However the The Other Half is a rather badly executed concept, and the covers provide almost no environmental seal at all. In particularly humid or damp conditions, a small amount of condensation has been noticeable under TOH, in my case, though it doesn't appear to have hampered the operation of the phone ... given this, even if the cause of the problem is moisture, I don't know how they can possibly refuse to repair or replace your phone.

As your phone is close to useless or at least severley impaired and Jolla won't repair it - have you thought about trying my DIY-cleaning tutorial?

You need a ultrasound-bath. If you don't feel brave enough to take it apart - let a local shop or a friend do it for you - up to the point where you are left with the pure motherboard (without screen).
