Hi, as many of you I was also suffering hard time from the WhatsApp/Mitäkuuluu fallout. After getting blocked and being unable to connect neither with the Android App nor with the native client I tried to contact them by mail. It took several days (almost 2 weeks in the end) to get any personalized reaction but I realized that I made a wrong approach and I think my experience can help you get unblocked by Whatsapp Support.

  1. Install an Android Email Client like e.g. K9 Mail and set up an Email account that is actually existing.

  2. Install the newest App direktly from the Whatsapp HP, do not use a client from a store as they can sometimes be an older version (was in my case) www.whatsapp.com/download

  3. Start the client - make a screenshot of the first screen ( grey backround with the symbols for all supportet OS) I used the native app called screensht but others should qwork as well, whatever you prefer.

  4. Click ok in the client to arrive at the screen where you add your phone number- type it in and make another screenshot of this screen.

  5. Now you would still get the message that your account/number is blocked when you try to proceed, go directly to the upper right corner and chose contact support. There you can also add the screenshots.

If you try to add now the new screenshots it can happen that whatsapp cannot find them in your gallery. I experienced this quite often with android apps and the easiest way to solve it is restarting the android dalvik engine. For this I use the KillDroid app you can find in Jolla store. simply restart the dalvik engine and whatsapp will get a refreshed Gallery.

Then you can enter the text for your message, tell that you are using the android client and that you would like to get your account unblocked. Avoid talking about Mitäkuuluu to avoid making the process more complicated.

  1. Click on the lower green bar to prepare the mail for sending. Now your K9 Mail Client will open in Draft mode so you can additionally correct your text, you should also be able to see your screenshots as attachements and a file logs.zip as well as additional debug info directly in the mail. Leave everything as it is and click on send.

  2. It can take up to 1 day to get a reply, best case: you get a personalized answer telling you to send (maybe) another time screenshots and to reply to a support ticket number, then you have to change the email adress to this format: support+id123456789@whatsapp.zendesk.com (substitute id123456789 with your id) and send it.

  3. Wait for a response that you have been unblocked then you should be able to use whatsapp normally again.

  4. Profit

DO NOT USE another way to contact whatsapp then through the android client. I went through pc email program, zendesk homepage where you can get your ticket status and it seems that they are ignoring your requests if its not coming directly from their client.

I hope you have success I realized quite fast that there is curerntly no real alternative to Whatsapp since most people stick with the easiest client and are not technically interested in trying other protocols/clients.

I also want to use this opportunity to give a VERY BIG THANK YOU to Coderus who did an amazing work with the Mitakuuluu client. I still think it is better than the official client and its so much more beautiful and faster on Jolla that I will really miss it.

Greetings Pat

@dillihifi yes I also ment that on zendesk you can follow everything but somhow they only reacted with a personal response when I used the whatsapp client before that I simply go always a shortened FAQ as answer, but since my account was blocked on serverside I couldnt change it from client side.

@Makeclick I wanted to do the same and then realised that I have many contacts who simply dont bother using another (maybe even better) service. If you want to stay in contact with people you are not often seeing or who live in different countries it is the easiest service to use at the moment.

This procedure is ok. But I have found that all requests with the same no get merged in whatsapp zendesk where I created a request manually and further sent requests from the official clients.
