Threema sync affected by Whatsapp? [answered]

I installed the official Whatsapp client yesterday out of necessity and after installation I noticed that all my Threema contacts which were validated only by sync (2 orange dots) are not being validated anymore (1 red dot). It might be pure coincidence, but has anyone else using Threema and Whatsapp noticed this?

Although the question is answered, I have the same problem on U9 - threema sees no contacts and Whatsapp is loading contacts at a pace of 3 contacts per second (at least thats what it looks like)

Also, I have a large number of contacts in my phone (around 500) - could that be an issue?

Interesting, what you describe could mean that WA is maybe blocking read access for Threema . If the android interface blocks mutual access and WA is never releasing or constantly requesting access to the contacts , the Threema would never get a chance to read the data. Maybe someone from Jolla could give us more information on the subject.

Whats funny: If I start threema first, it takes ages to read the contacts and WA sees all contacts afterwards.

Hm, maybe the contacts are mirrored into the android layer when Threema request them for the first time. Then Threema checks one by one if the hashes of all contacts are correct compared to the server hashes, which could take a while if you have many contacts. Then, afterwards, when you open WA, all contacts have already been loaded into the Android layer so everything is already there. This is just a guess, but it could explain what you desribed.

Never mind, I solved the problem by restarting the phone and manually refreshing the Threema contact list. Apparently, after I installed WA, Threema could no longer access the adress book to verify my contacts. After reboot everything is back to normal. It would be interesting to find out if this is a general problem with Android apps which use the address book.
