Do anyone know something about this??? we are in the end of november, and the only thing I heard is the tablet.... possible???

NB I'm still waiting a new update since July (I didn't install the 9th because isn't a real update)

PS I use my jolla since December 2013. In sailfish I have find few annoying bugs, the troublesome things are the missed features. The time spent on missed features is lesser than time spent to fixing the bugs.

EDIT: It's December already, come on Jolla say something about when should we expect an update!

Oh yes would be nice 1.1.0.39 starts to be too laggy sometimes!

@damourti - agreed on the lag in 1.1.0.39, but that was one of the caveats of installing 1.1.0.39 - just saying :)

Looks like it's going to be at least 5 months between stable updates ... Jolla have fallen really far behind.

Yesterday on IRC it was stated that it is getting close and please don't take the increment (10+1) as month of the year. It will be ready when it is ready or do you want another beta?

Agreed;

"...or do you want another beta?.." - :D

Sure, another beta would be nice :D

Atleast they can release most important or minor fixes as a update. we are not expecting update of 500MB+. even smaller fixes will help us to see some improvements in our JOLLA

I hope they won't postpone the release until Sailfish 2.0.

other beta... I dont know why an update should be so long to be released... in the last 3 updates I didn't found many new features.. I think we need small update with new features and not big updates with unstable software and others bugs

I am sure it will come. I Don't know when. I suppose before the end of the year. I have no insider information, but we received 9 updates in one year... So let us say one month and a half between updates. If the developers need more time now and then to polish one particular release, there is no reason to freak out.

I rember you that the updates are 8! The 9th isn't a real update and I haven't install it! Then I'm still waiting for 'the next update' since July.....

Actually there were 11 updates since I bought my Jolla phone. What they called 'hot fixes' were updates as well, of course.

According to Jolla the 1.1.0.3x Uitukka is same as Update 9

https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204076583-Opt-in-upgrade-1-1-0-38-1-1-0-39-Uitukka

But we are not supposed to ask and discuss about when the next update is released ;) It will prolong the release by one day to one week at minimum.

The best location to find any information about the coming updates is via this post => https://together.jolla.com/question/54157/sailfishos-open-source-collaboration-meeting-planning/

Open the meeting from the link, but the important stuff you can find by opening the full log of the meeting and finding the possible update disussion points.

The only real information we have so far is that they decided to stick with the opt-in mechanism for upcoming updates (although I'm not 100% sure if this will already include U10):

After the testruns with opt-in we had for hotfix + u9 we decided now to make updates available as opt-in when we're qa-wise ready to release from our side, and will push it to the general public about 1 week later (having fixed critical issues, if found during that time) (cybette, 16:24:06)
you opt in once, and that's valid until you opt out. you won't be able to opt out when there's an opt-in update pushed out to avoid downgrading issues. (cybette, 16:25:30)

If this already applies to U10, at least one thing is sure: Public release is more than 1 week away because the opt-in period hasn't started yet.

I think it is a very good idea to do so, then user can decide if he want to be a kind of QA user or wait 1 week more and be sure the release is stable enough Anyway, waiting for the next update :p

mousse04 ( 2014-11-27 12:58:49 +0300 )edit

I too read the meeting log but was not sure whether it was meant for U10 as it seemed to be the response for "any status for the Mer Nemo merge topic ?" Anyways, looking forward for U10.

I decided to not update to U9 at the moment it came in Sept/Oct, because with 8th update I have memory issued after few days of uptime. The opt in period of 1week for the public is still dreamining. I have waited for U9 to come out from opt in for 1 month. I think it won't come out before Christmas, since they want to release the Jolla Tablet. Jolla just does not have enough manpower to finish everything. have we heard about the sailfish launcher going into beta? Not yet. Somehow I feel that Sailfish OS and Jolla is still in Beta.

@juzupuh: You missed some information here... or misinterpreted what was said. Jolla clearly stated that Uitukka will never "come out from opt in". Instead, work continued right away with the next Update. So while in your timeline you're still waiting for a public Uitukka release, Jolla has long left Uitukka behind and we're approaching the next release.

Also, it's misleading to think of Uitukka as beta or unfinished. It's as good as any other update before. There may be issues that are visible to Jollas own developers who debug the code... but for a normal user like myself, it's just another update. I don't understand why Jolla chose to make it opt-in only. (The fix of the annoying browser bug alone is worth updating.) So I'd rather say there was a full update (two in fact, counting the hotfix) and you missid it.

@ossi1967: Thank you for the clarification. I don't usually read the developers blogs and get the info behind the scenes. I thought that Jolla's strategy would have changed into more open after the screw up of phone launch. However, from this I can conclude that Jolla is still as same company that screwed the launch last year. If a Finn promises something, I would expect to get it...
