After connecting a bluetooth headset, the bluetooth button in 'Settings' has just disappeared (see screenshot below). Restarting does not bring the button back. I can provide further details, but currently I have no clue where to start debugging. Bluetooth and the headset itself are functional whatsoever.

It seems like you have accidentally removed the toggle for Bluetooth.

To get it back you have to go to the Bluetooth page in the setting app. Then long press the Bluetooth button, after a couple of seconds a hidden menu should appear, and select add to favorites.

Try to go to Settings — System — Bluetooth and here tap and hold Bluetooth button. You should get "Add to Favorites" menu. Just tap it and button on the main Setting menu should come back.

... button come back = yes = but without on/off light icon ... this is not the right button/answer for @volker :(

... the favourite answer by @oyviaase and @rburkhanov is a extra icon :(

... i believe that a reset could help

You need to go in the Bluetooth page, and then press and hold on the switch there.
