Disable sim card switch/ fake it

I manually cut my Sim card down to micro format. Apparently I cut a bit too much away. Jolla doesn't want to recognize the sim, however it still works in the old phone (it is somewhat stuck in place there, so it thankfully doesn't matter that the old phone expects a mini format card). I read about and identified the hardware sim detection switch on the jolla, however pushing it left doesn't seem to be working/sufficient. (I will eventually pay the 15€ my provider is asking for a new micro card)
I'm wondering if there is something along the lines of
echo "on" > /proc/that/switch
that would tell the kernel that the switch was toggled?
Why not just change provider? Might be enough just to make a deal with another operator and your current one will call you after a while and try to keep you as their customer by making a deal with you. Then tell them that your only reason for change is to get a new SIM card. At that point they rather provide the SIM and have you as a happy customer. If not then it's their loss.
Not sure how it works wherever you're from, but in Finland every kind of operator blackmailing is common and strongly encouraged :)
Okw ( 2015-01-13 22:45:07 +0200 )editWell, the contract is "for-free" because it comes as part of my parents DSL subscription. So paying 15€ once is still the cheaper option compared to 10€ monthly that any other contract would cost.
