When enabling remote ssh the phone asks for the security code. What is this ?

Hmm, I can not remember that I ever entered one. May be my kids entered one during playing around. Is there a possibility to reset the device or the security code ?

sorry, no there is no way to just reset it - Jolla needs to make aware of it on first boot for sure... but otoh those device security codes are out there for a decade now and you always need to find a shop or send it in to reset it. I will draft up a suggestion right away.

I'am not sure if this is the right to increase security. What is secured with this ? If the device got stolen, the thief will discard it if it does not work as expected. If my personal data should be secured a factory reset would be OK to disable device code.

For me it makes no sense. When I understand right I have to send it back to jolla or find a shop that sells jolla and is able and willing to reset it.

They are phones available that costs less than the effort to reset my security code. The phone has become yellow edges that bloom on the display after 16 months. I am really not sure if this journey still makes fun.

If you are in the EU the yellow edges are a warranty case and everything around that is covered, so why don't you send it in for repairs on warranty and get the security code removed with it. For your complaint about what it protects, you need the code to factory-reset as well so no other than you just grabs your phone and does a factory-reset.

Isn't it more than an academic security issue that someone can factory reset your phone ?

I would claim that more people have problems to recover their security code than people had a security problem with a factory reset done by an unauthorized person.

I will check all the number codes I am normally using hopefully the code is among them.

I think a hard security code is not as useful as a working crypto API that is integrated in the operating system and able to to protect your certificates.

The yellow edges are a warranty issue that is cool. Thanks for this information. I will check how if I can get a phone from a friend for the time my phone is absent.
